Nanjing Museum

History The predecessor of Nanjing Museum was the National Central Museum, which was built in 1933 at the initiative of Mr. Cai Yuanpei, who served as the first chairman of the board of directors. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was renamed the National Nanjing Museum in March 1950. The directors of the museum since its establishment are Xu Pingyu, Zeng Zhaoyu, Yao Qian, Liang Baiquan, Xu Huping, and Gong Liang. Architectural features The architectural layout of Nanjing Museum reflects the concept of "gold inlaid with jade, treasures hidden within", with both traditional elements and modern atmosphere, which are harmoniously integrated and complement each other. The main hall is simple, solemn, majestic, and magnificent, and has become a landmark historical and cultural landscape in Nanjing. It is now a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.
