Nara Yakushiji Temple

Yakushiji Temple, registered as a World Heritage site, dates back to the 7th century and is one of Japan's oldest temples. Most of the buildings at Yakushiji were reconstructed after fires, with the East Pagoda being a national treasure that has survived through several different eras. Visitors can see the famous mural 'Great Tang Western Regions' by renowned Japanese painter Ikuo Hirayama at the Genjo Sanzoin Garan across the road.
