Pamukkale Travertenl

The water is lukewarm and the pools are clean and clear. Water is just knee high so it’s a pleasure to just wade around and get your feet wet. Some areas were closed off for cleaning. Quite a few photographers available to take memorable pics. This place is breathtakingly beautiful. With the rolling hills in the background and fluffy clouds in the distance, ancient ruins surrounding the area, you are transported to another realm it seems. Be sure to take a dip in Cleopatra’s pool. Water temperature is a little hotter. You can literally smell and taste the minerals in the water. The bottom of the pool is filled with loose pebbles and columns that collapsed in ancient times. Excellent setup for swimming with lockers and changing rooms easily accessible at a cost of 130 Turkish Lira. #2023travelwish #summervacation #turkey

#bucketlistreboot Trust me, the actual view of the thermal pool is super nice but it’s not possible to take from top to below. note that the limestone is sharp and edgy so it’s really hard to walk. I think I can give advice to bring beach shoes. Did I mention that there is no safety rail available and next to you is the cliff. A small footpath runs up the mountain face for us to use, however the travertine terraces are all off-limits, having suffered damage over time I guess or too many ppl walking on the same path. Free of charge to bath there but don’t mind ppl just put their feet into the water . Mineralised water , not thermal but spring water so it’s cooling.

#bucketlistreboot Pamukkale meaning cotton castle in Turkish is a natural site in Merkez, 20190 Pamukkale/Denizli Province. People have visited the area for thousands of years, due to the attraction of the thermal pools, hotels were built all over the ruins, when the area declared a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE, the hotels were demolished and the road removed and replaced with artificial pools. There are well preserved Roman ruins and a museum on site. Natural thermal pools surrounded by white limestone, accessed by a walk over rough rocks, be careful it slippery.
