Anhui's Tianzhu Mountain (as magnificent as a palace atop the clouds)

Tianzhu Mountain is known for its unique geomorphology, characterized by granite collapse landforms, encompassing nearly all types of granite geomorphic landscapes. The main peak, Tianzhu Peak, rises 1489.8 meters above sea level and is the highest peak of Tianzhu Mountain. Ancient people said, 'After visiting the Five Great Mountains, one need not visit other mountains; after visiting Huangshan, one need not visit other peaks; but after visiting Tianzhu, one need not visit other summits,' hence it is acclaimed as 'a pillar holding up the sky.' Within Tianzhu Mountain, there are forty-two named peaks, eighty-four unnamed peaks, eighteen ridges, fifty-three caves, sixteen rocks, seventeen cliffs, seven passes, eight pools, three rivers, two streams, forty-eight forts, and many other places of historic interest and scenic beauty. The mountain is divided into nine main scenic areas: Meicheng District, Gukou District, Jiujing District, Mazu District, Liangyao District, Xiguan District, Tianzhu District, Feilai District, and Yujing District. Major attractions include Tianzhu Peak, One-Line-Sky, Feilai Peak, and numerous cultural relics, including thirteen sites that are national key cultural relics protection units and provincial key cultural relics protection units. There are also many cliff inscriptions left by literary figures such as Li Bai, Bai Juyi, Su Shi, and Wang Anshi. In 1982, Tianzhu Mountain became one of the first national key scenic spots. In 2005, it became a national geological park, and in 2011, it joined the Global Geoparks Network and was rated as a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.
