The Great Wall at Sea - Laolongtou at Shanhaiguan

I visited Laolongtou, one of the scenic spots in the Shanhaiguan area, at around one o'clock in the afternoon in Qinhuangdao. It is the eastern starting point of the Ming Great Wall where it meets the sea, and it is the only part of the Great Wall that combines mountain, sea, pass, and city into a single military defense system. This section of the wall was built during the Ming Dynasty and was a military fortress for coastal defense during that era. It is the only Great Wall on the sea in China. The ticket price is 50 yuan per person. The construction of the Laolongtou Great Wall began in the 14th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1381 AD), mainly to prevent cavalry from outside the pass from invading the hinterland of Shanhaiguan. The entire Laolongtou Great Wall consists of several parts, including the stone city that extends into the sea, Jinglu Platform, Nanhaikou, Chenghai Tower, Ninghai City, and the coastal Great Wall. Among them, 'Jinglu Platform' is the only 'enemy tower' of the Ming Great Wall that was built in the sea.
