Stroll through the guild hall gardens of Dongjiadu

On June 9, 2024, after coming out from the Greenland Bund Fashion Plaza at a little past one in the afternoon, I cycled along Qinglongqiao Street and quickly arrived at Guild Hall Street. The 'Guild Hall Garden' caught my eye immediately. Since the Dongjiadu area transformed into modern commercial and office buildings like the Greenland Bund Center, I had only just begun to explore deeply. This exquisite garden made me stop in my tracks. Surprisingly, the courtyard garden stood out with its water features and pavilions. With every step, the scenery changed, yet it harmoniously blended with the skyline of the surrounding modern office buildings. Turning past the archway, the 'Merchant Ship Guild Hall' was hidden behind the greenery. Unfortunately, it was not open to the public. It is usually only open for one day during the 'Culture and Nature Day', which this year happened to be on June 8th. All I could do was scan the 'Architecture is Readable' QR code in front of its facade to learn about its past and present. I'll come back next year to visit the interior! However, walking and sitting in the guild hall garden was quite comfortable.
