Chongming Forest Cabins Escape the City

Price per Person - 800/person Rating - 10/10 We couldn't travel home and figured we should go somewhere that offers tranquility and get away from our urban life yet not travel too far. Traveling with a child is not easy especially with public transport. So we got off at Line 1 Wenshui Station after an hour on the metro. Grabbed a quick lunch at a nearby mall for 80 RMB and rushed to the next bus going to South Gate Pier Chongming. Online sources says the bus was gonna take 1.5 hours but we ended up sitting on it for 3 hours. An hour across Hengsha Island and 2 more to South Gate. Indeed Chongming is the 3rd largest island in China. Whew!!! We finally got there and settled in our Lake View Forest Cabin. The smell of cedar was so refreshing. The following day we visited the Dongping National forest after our buffet breakfast. Everything was getting prepped for the Flower Festival. Definitely coming back for that season! The food was great 💯! There were not a lot of restaurants nearby and the hotel food had a lot of variety from locally sourced ingredients. A food set menu was on sale that time but it was a pain to ensure it was available 😢. However food was always yum! Vending machines made up for lack of convenience store and the hotel snack was fairly priced we just ate them all. hehehe I love unique accomodations and this one is a winner! I am so happy we found this thanks to Trip.com!
