Gorgeous Shangri-La - Napa Lake

Getting There - Arriving in Shangri-La, I decided to hitchhike to a local pasture land - Napa Sea, just to see how campable it is. It took about 10 minutes of walking along the road with my thumb up before a car pulled over and offered me a ride. As the driver and I started to talk more I learned that he is a local and lives right next to where I was heading. One thing that struck me was how kind he was. He kept pulling over at various picturesque stops so that I could really see, take pictures and generally enjoy the ride. Knowing that I wanted to camp out, he right away offered to drive me to an area of highland grasslands where he believed to be a great campsite. When we arrived, I was totally amazed - it overlooks the vast green meadows against the backdrop of mountains with a flat, well-drained area for pitching a tent. It’s everything that I was looking for. Having helped me set up my tent, he said goodbye and drove away just as quickly as he pulled over to pick me up, not expecting or even desiring excessive thanks from me. #camping #backpacking #hitchhiking #wintergetaway #awesomepics
