The Dongxi Chong coastline is located in the Dapeng Peninsula of Longgang District, Shenzhen, and is one of Shenzhen's eight most beautiful coastlines, also rated by National Geographic magazine as one of the top ten most beautiful coastlines in China. The hike from Dong Chong to Xi Chong is about eight kilometers, half mountainous and half coastline, passing through Shenzhen's most beautiful 'Stairway to Heaven' - the Observatory. 🗓 Itinerary The hike from Dong Chong to Xi Chong passes through Guizi Jiao, Chuanbi Rock, and finally the Observatory, which is the highest point of the coastline with a broad view. You can choose to go up to the Observatory, where there is a minibus service area that takes you directly back to the entrance of Xichong Beach, or you can choose to continue hiking back to Xi Chong Beach) 🗺️ Crossing Route (Recommended from Dong Chong to Xi Chong) Straight crossing: Dong Chong ➡️ Xi Chong (More difficult, 8 hours including a visit to the Observatory) Reverse crossing: Xi Chong ➡️ Dong Chong (Relatively easier) Mid crossing: Xi Chong/Dong Chong ➡️ Shenzhen Observatory (Return from the Observatory) 📝 Tips It is best to choose from November to December for the cool autumn weather. The entire hike is exposed to the sun, and the path is rocky, so it is recommended to wear hiking shoes, hats, climbing gloves, sunglasses, sun protection gloves, face masks, band-aids, etc... There are a few simple supply stations along the way, with water, ice pops, and small snacks (ice pops are usually out of stock, especially in the hot summer), so you must bring at least two bottles of water, chocolate, compressed biscuits or beef jerky snacks... If you choose 'Mid crossing', there is a shuttle bus at Xi Chong No. 4 Beach parking lot that goes directly to the Observatory (Ticket 10/person, about 15 minutes), and finally return the same way to the Observatory station/take a boat back to No. 4 Beach (Boat ticket 50/person, about 8 minutes) Drive to Xichong No. 4 Beach parking lot, charter a car (80 yuan) or take a public bus (5 yuan) to Dong Chong, and start hiking back to Xichong Beach along the coastline. Alternatively, take E11 from Shenzhen North Station to Nan'ao Sub-district Office (about 2 hours) and transfer to m231 (25 minutes)
