Ding Yi's exhibition 'Ten Directions of Star Series' presents a visual collision between extreme simplicity and complexity

"Meaning and meaninglessness" - how to distinguish between them? He has spent thirty-five years providing his own answer, using the minimalist symbols of "➕" and "X" as his language, thereby re-examining the significance of art. When I entered the exhibition, I was immediately overwhelmed by the world of "➕" and "X" symbols. Viewing these works up close and from a distance offers different effects; seemingly trivial, these two symbols can evolve into art. The power of art is to make the meaningless meaningful; the changing colors on the paintings and the alternating creative logic, observing from different angles and perspectives, all bring about stunning visual effects. Transitioning from somber artworks to those with fluorescent colors, from alternating directional pieces to images with multiple centers, I felt as though I had broken through the grid's boundaries, floating and exploring within the three-dimensional space of the works. Perhaps this is the meaning that art brings to us.
