Morning walks are my favorite way to think and relax, and it's also a great time to catch up with loved ones, sharing stories about our week and discussing upcoming plans. After our hike, we decided to try a new brunch spot between Tan Kah Kee and the Botanic Gardens, breaking our usual prata routine. A friend had recommended Hello Arigato, located beside Atlas Coffeehouse, so we decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the wait staff escorted us to the second level. It was a bit darker than your typical brunch spot, but the air conditioning was a welcome relief. The open kitchen concept was interesting; larger groups sat by the counter, while tables in the corners were reserved for pairs. Outdoor seating is available if you have pets. This cafe offers fusion food with Japanese flavors. Since we're both on a diet, we decided to share: 1. Gyu Sando - 9/10 A thick slab of beef tenderloin katsu, cooked to a perfect medium rare, served with caramelized sweet onion jam on Japanese milk bread. The toast was soft and fluffy, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The caramelized onion jam had a nice zesty kick to balance the rich beef, but I felt it could use some crunch—perhaps tempura bites or pickled cucumber would make this dish perfect. 2. Hello Kombu Tots - 10/10 Crispy fried tater tots seasoned with shio kombu, accompanied by nori mayo. This side was incredibly tasty and flavorful, though we couldn't finish it due to being so full from the sando. 3. Ice Dirty Matcha - 10/10 A well-balanced drink, neither too sweet nor bitter, perfect for matcha lovers. Overall, this is a great spot to end your hiking date. The service was fast, and the staff were attentive. The prices are comparable to other brunch cafes in the area, but frequent visits might stretch your budget. On a side note, their menu looks enticing, and I'll definitely return for drinks and desserts.
