Tianping Mountain is one of the 'Four Major Maple Viewing Spots in China'. The custom of viewing maples in Tianping, a folk custom in Wu region, has been popular since the Qing Dynasty. Since 1994, the Tianping Mountain Scenic Area has launched an annual Red Maple Festival, which has been successfully held for 40 times. The ancient maple fragrance of Tianping Mountain has been around for more than 420 years. It was planted by Fan Yunlin, the 17th generation grandson of Fan Zhongyan, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. There are currently 121 trees in the scenic area, which is the largest ancient maple fragrance community in East China.
