Shishan New City is the most prosperous city center in the west of Suzhou (Shishan, Gusu Old City, Jinji Lake), and hotels have already started to be built here, including Banyan Tree Shishan, Yueshuang, Grand Canal Indigo, Suzhou Xianghe Nikko Hotel, and the Conrad Hotel next to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which is under construction. Among them, Indigo and Su Xiang are located in the Longfor Paradise Walk shopping center area, just a few steps away from Huaihai Street and Golden Eagle, making it very convenient for shopping and dining. The Banyan Tree series is located at the foot of Shishan, making it the closest to hiking, lake tours, or visiting the West Museum or Science Museum. This Grand Canal Indigo was designed by HBA, and the public areas and rooms are actually quite good, with a sense of design that is not as abrupt in color as the Yangcheng Lake Indigo, and the atmosphere is well-matched. Apart from the open washbasin design and average bedding that I don't like, and the construction site view outside the window, everything else is pretty good. The pool is actually quite beautiful, but there are too many children on weekends, and the pool is almost full. There are also a lot of people at breakfast, and you need to queue up for breakfast in the morning. However, the quality of breakfast is quite good, and it is one of the best among so many Indigo hotels, especially the muffins. The service is not great, the room service attitude is very poor, and it is difficult to get through on the phone. It is much worse than the Su Xiang opposite, but the front desk service is okay. Overall, the hardware of this hotel is much better than Su Xiang, as Su Xiang is too old. The design is also relatively young and avant-garde, making it a boutique hotel that I would be willing to stay in again. As a high-rise hotel, I personally think it is better than Niccolo.
