Slow Walking in the Japanese Mountains - Kumano Kodo

The Kumano Kodo Trail is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site, so as a nature lover, I definitely want to give it a try. The Kumano Kodo is divided into six sections with a total length of over 1,000 kilometers. It is the only way for Japanese monks to visit the Kumano Three Mountains. The "Nakabe Road" we walked this time is about 6.9 kilometers long from "Hoshinmon Prince" to "Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine". If you walk slowly, you can complete it in about 2.5 hours. We took the bus from Tanabe City to the starting point, Hoshinmon Prince Station. There are vending machines and toilets at the drop-off point, so it is convenient to take care of it before entering the mountains. Because this is an ancient pilgrimage route, you will see torii and several relics along the way, including the "Hashinmon Prince" at the beginning, "Mizutsu Prince", "Fubai Prince" and "Purden Prince". Most of this route is shaded by trees, so it is easy to walk. With the beautiful scenery, you can soon see the Japanese torii gate at the end. This torii gate is the largest in Japan and can be seen from a distant hillside. Its grandeur can be seen more clearly as you get closer. You can also visit the Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine at the end point. Japan’s hiking trails are also well managed. Compared to Hong Kong, Japan is vast and sparsely populated, so you can feel the nature more quietly and hear the wonderful sounds of the wind and birds. If you have the opportunity, you can also try hiking in Japan! #Overseas travel #Japan #Kumanokodo Nakabe Road #Countryside #japan
