The arrival of spring added an extra touch of magic to the place, and the tranquil landscapes surrounding the shrine left us speechless. The stunning views etched memories in our minds that we will always hold dear. Tucked away in a serene residential enclave just off the bustling Daiichi-Keihin highway in Oimachi, lies a hidden gem of tranquility - a temple belonging to the revered Shingon sect of Buddhism. As you meander through a picturesque stone pathway, you will be transported to an ethereal oasis, where silence reigns supreme. While the temple's roots can be traced back to the ancient 10th century, the current structures exude a contemporary charm, having been meticulously crafted in the postwar era. Beyond the temple's ornate gates, a delightful surprise awaits - a small yet resplendent garden that enchants visitors with its verdant beauty. However, the true highlight of this sacred sanctuary lies in its homage to the indigo dealers of Awa Province, which is now known as the illustrious Tokushima Prefecture. These enterprising merchants plied their trade in the vibrant city of Edo during the early 17th century until the transformative Meiji Restoration. Their invaluable contribution ensured that the capital's denizens were perpetually adorned in the mesmerizing hues of indigo, a dye that remains one of Tokushima's most renowned exports to this day. This retreat was so luxurious and beautiful that it left a lasting impression in my mind.
