It is a very precious sand dune that was designated a national natural monument in 1955 (Showa 30) and selected as one of Japan's 100 best geological features in 2007 (Heisei 19). Visitors will be captivated by its vastness and the fantastic art created by nature. When you cross the hill-like part called "Umanose", you will reach the Sea of ​​Japan. Offshore, you can see an uninhabited island called "Kujirajima", which is shaped like a whale. Climbing "Umanose" is quite difficult. It is best to go barefoot unless it is hot.
