A charming island near Venice

This colorful island makes for a wonderful day trip from Venice. There is also the island of Torcello next door, which too can be combined. However, since i visited Murano as well part of the package. I feel that it can easily be skipped. This tiny island of colorful houses can actually be walked all across or even seen via a bicycle. Our guide told us an interesting fact, that the reason why the houses were so colorful and differnt. It was so that the returning fisherman could recognise them. I would give it an hour or two and even explore it's canals on the boat. Checkout the lace workshops and boutiques. Some places offer a free demonstation too.
