The Great Mosque of Xi'an was built for the many Muslims who arrived in Chang'an after a weary trek along the Silk Road. One of the four main mosques in China, it is also the largest and best preserved in Xi'an. Though most of its buildings were constructed hundreds of years ago during the Ming and Qing dynasties, they are still in impressive condition.
