Slender West Lake was originally named Baozhang Lake. The name Slender West Lake originated from the Qianlong period, when the poet Wang Hang came to Yangzhou and compared it with West Lake in Hangzhou. He wrote a poem: "The willows are endless, the geese's teeth and the rainbow bridge are like a painting, it is also a pot of gold, so it should be called Slender West Lake." Slender West Lake is located between Shugang and the city, starting from the Qianlong Imperial Pier in the south and ending at Pingshan Hall and Guanyin Mountain in Shugang in the north, covering an area of nearly 2,000 mu, of which the water area is 700 mu. Slender West Lake had already formed a basic pattern during the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, and was known as "the best garden in the world". Slender West Lake is mainly divided into 14 major attractions, including Wuting Bridge, Twenty-four Bridge, Lotus Pond, and Diaoyutai. It is a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot, and as part of the "Grand Canal of China" heritage, it is included in the World Cultural Heritage List. Slender West Lake is famous for its beautiful gardens. Although Slender West Lake is not as big as West Lake in Hangzhou, it is a representative of the essence of lake gardens.
