Jinshan, the foremost among the three mountains

Located in the northwest of the main urban area of Zhenjiang City, Jinshan boasts secluded and exquisite scenery, and its natural beauty has made it one of China's famous tourist destinations since ancient times. Originally, Jinshan was an island standing in the middle of the Yangtze River, known for its beauty as 'a lotus flower in the heart of the river'. However, due to the eastward flow of the 'Great River', by the end of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (around 1903), it became connected to the mainland. The Jinshan Scenic Area is the leader of Zhenjiang's 'Three Mountains (Jinshan, Jiaoshan, Beigushan)', consisting of Jinshan Temple, Cishou Pagoda, 'the Number One Spring under Heaven', Pagoda Shadow Lake, Hundred Flowers Islet, and Mirror Sky Garden, among other attractions. For thousands of years, many folk tales such as 'The Legend of the White Snake Floods Jinshan Temple' originated here, and historical figures like Su Dongpo and Yue Fei have formed bonds with Jinshan.
