The temple of Afia on the island of Aina was built between 510 and 480 BC to commemorate the victory of the Salles Sea. Afia was one of Zeus's wives, and the islanders regarded her as the island's protector, who once worshipped a forest fairy. The temple has 34 stone pillars, but only 24. The temple was built to form an equilateral triangle with the Parthenon and Poseidon temple in Sunion, known as the ancient holy triangle.
