The scholar mentioned that our tour guide, Xiao Hai, led us through the Forbidden City. His explanations were detailed and professional, and he was also humorous and engaging. He proactively answered our questions, proving he was a top-notch guide. The Forbidden City was sunny but rather cold today, yet incredibly magnificent and grand.
Badaling Great Wall

"He who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man," goes the saying. It's a great patriotic education destination for families, especially during the crisp autumn season. Transportation is convenient, and facilities are comprehensive. For families with children, I recommend taking the cable car and then walking to the watchtower.

If you come in Dec, not too crowded, we manage to take all the key rides without buying any express ticket. We completed everything around 5.30pm. The only problem is very cold.

Xiucai Shuo (a popular online forum) recommends Jiang Shangyi's professional and engaging explanations, which helped us rediscover history and learn about ancient architecture. Her explanations were like a warm winter sun, making the trip worthwhile. Highly recommended!

Beijingers are truly blessed to have such a beautiful, world-class royal park, a cultural heritage site, allowing them to fully enjoy life. What a wonderful moment this is! Am I right, Beijingers? Wang Anshi (Song Dynasty): "Several plum blossoms by the corner of the wall, blooming alone in the cold. From afar, I know it's not snow, for there is a faint fragrance." Lu You: "I heard that plum blossoms bloom in the morning breeze, snow piled up all over the mountains. How can I transform myself into billions, one plum blossom for each Lu You?" Wang Wei (Tang Dynasty): "I have seen the winter plum blossoms, and heard the birds singing. My heart looks at the spring grass, fearing it will grow on the jade steps." Remembering the Plum Blossom (Tang Dynasty): "Firmly dwelling at the ends of the earth, lingering towards the beauty of nature. The winter plum is most hateful, always blooming like last year's flower." Reading Li Shangyin's "always blooming like last year's flower," we seem to be the winter plum blossoms we saw in the Summer Palace last year. The flowers haven't changed, but people grow old. The laws of nature are limited, only for people, not for plants, and certainly not for the winter plum blossoms, because the winter plum blossoms are immortal…

Very well worth a visit BUT can be a pain in the butt to get tickets as they have low support for foreigners passports, English and need to use Wechat Mini Apps. Best and easiest way to get tickets as a foreigner is via Trip.com when they do tickets, sometimes they just point you to wechat mini app. In which case, not much you can do. There is a real crown in the basement which people line up to take photos of and was a crazy highlight of the visit. As well as artefacts from when New China was established. The signage and closure of many exhibits was a bit disappointing though, especially when you travelled far and wide. This is my experience from late Nov:Exhibit 2 is paid/non general exhibits Closed exhibits:1, 3, 4, 6, 10Open exhibits:7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 Seems like No 5 and 10 don't exist?B1 is where all ancient china is, signage not that clear. Enter on ground, and go down escalators. This is where you'll find the crown at the end of the exhibit.

Visiting the Great Wall of China at the Mutianyu entrance was an amazing experience. The area is well-organised, easy to navigate, and offers stunning scenery from the moment you arrive. We explored both the east and west sides, and each offered its own unique perspective and breathtaking views of the Wall stretching across the mountains.The Mutianyu section is beautifully restored yet still maintains its historic charm. It’s less crowded compared to other entrances, which made the walk much more enjoyable and peaceful.Overall, an unforgettable visit - highly recommended for anyone planning to see the Great Wall!

Chaoyang Park in Beijing is located on the North Fourth Ring Road in East China. It's a large park built on a puddle of land. Chaoyang Park is quite extensive and features a large lake. Chaoyang Park frequently hosts various events, and the surrounding area boasts comprehensive facilities. To the west of the park is the Blue Harbor commercial street, which is very lively in the evenings. This park is especially suitable for families with children; many parents bring their kids to Chaoyang Park to relax on weekends.

The whole place can be completed within an hour or two. But we stayed and had some meals at the level 2 restaurant just so we can see their night scenery. It was cold and having strong wind that day, hence Labubu performance was cancelled 😩
Beijing Wildlife Park

The park is quite large overall, with a wide variety of animals; it feels like it would be difficult to see everything in one day. It's not too crowded on weekdays, so the experience is generally good. However, there's a queue for the predator enclosure in the morning, but it's shorter in the afternoon. Also, the animals there don't seem to be in very good condition; hopefully, the park can improve the animals' health.
