The autumn wind is bleak, and it takes half an hour to get to Badaling from Qinghe Railway Station early in the morning. After a short rest and breakfast, we started to visit the scenic area. Visiting the Great Wall of China definitely feels like a milestone. You read so much about this world’s heritage site, that experiencing it feels beyond anything you can dream off. The Badaling section of the Great Wall is the most popular, dates from Ming dynasty and its highest point is 1015m (Beibalou). Yanqing county is located 80km away from Beijing downtown. There are few stores and restaurants in the base of the Wall, Subway can be the easiest option considering you are about to walk for hours. You can reach the summit by walking or taking a cable car. Be prepared for a long walk around the wall, difficulty levels may depend on walk the side you chose to explore. Both ways, scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Even more if you consider you are now part of ancient history and one of the seven wonders of the world. Even more surprisingly, internet there is great. Remember you have to go back over your steps to get down to the wall’s base. Now, the exciting part of leaving is that you get to do it by riding a toboggan!!
