Being one of the seven wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China (长城) is the second most visited wonders, after the Effiel Tower in Paris. If at all you are looking for a short vacation and you're new to China, then I would suggest this is the place to start with. As the Great Wall is quite long, there are different sections of it that people love it. But especially, during any holidays even be it a weekend, the most famous ones like Badaling and Mutianyu are too much crowded as it is a must visit for the local tourists coming from different provinces. So it's always better to take an offbeat destination, where the beauty of it is serene and calm. In fact, I felt the whole section of that Great Wall is mine haha. So here's an isolated section named as Huang hua cheng(黄花城), you have to drive a little bit away from Beijing. Just putting up in Baidu would help, but we hired a car to go and come back on that day; as we also planned to go for an early hike to see the sunrise over the Great Wall which is once in a lifetime experience. If there's anything that you can squeeze in a 3 day trip, taking this offbeat path is a totally worthy one. P.S. Flowers are also blooming beautifully along the way. You can see the pink and white flowers everywhere. If it's your first time in Beijing, I recommend you to join a group tour while visiting Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall. Since the trip from downtown will takes more than 3 hours with public transportation and 1.5 hours by private car.

#familytrips2024 I have been to Mutianyu Great Wall before, and this year I am fortunate enough to have a chance to visit another part of this gorgeous construction with my family. We got invited to joined a group tour to the Lakeside Great Wall. The journey was about 2 hours drive from China World Trade Center Beijing. We arrived Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall around 9.30am. The view when we get nearer was breathtaking, with colourful flowers blooming everywhere. Once arrived, we were ushered to a tunnel and walk to the jetty for a short 5mins boat ride. The beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains and floral make the whole ride feel so graceful and magical. We crossed wooden bridges, hilly path, rainbow stride walkway, botanical gardens, witnessing a 800 year old ancient tree, what else can we ask for for such enjoyment. We also come across a hanging glass bridge before hiking up the Great Wall. The hike on this path is not too challenging but you still need some stamina and physical strength. The beautiful view and cool air helps to distract you from the exhaustion. It could be a bit tiring for those who don't exercise regularly but the experience along the way is definitely worth it. Visited one of the best spot in Beijing, called Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall a few weeks ago. Located 80 km from downtown Beijing to the north, this place is such a piece of heaven on earth. It was beautiful and magical. Once you enter the area, you'll be spoiled by many kinds of scenic spots. Moreover, if you come in spring season, it's getting more beautiful since the flowers are blooming everywhere.
