Yuanmingyuan Park Highlights: Must-See Features and Attractions
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
The Old Summer Palace is a famous imperial garden constructed throughout the 18th and 19th centuries during the Qing Dynasty. It consists of three sections: Yuanming Garden, Changchun Garden, and Yichun Garden. Its excellent view earned it the reputation of "the garden of gardens." However in 1860, British and French troops burned the main buildings into ashes. These days, tourists can only look at the wreckage and imagine its glory during the time of the Qing Dynasty. If your imagination is not good enough, you can learn more about what the garden looked like through the miniature model in Changchun Garden.

Exploring the ruins of the Old Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, is a haunting yet enlightening experience. Walking amidst the remnants of what was once a majestic imperial retreat, I couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy mixed with awe. The vastness of the gardens, once adorned with exquisite architecture, lavish pavilions, and tranquil lakes, now lay in ruins, a testament to the ravages of time and history. Yet, amidst the rubble, there is a profound beauty in the enduring resilience of natu
Big park! Lots of historical ruins. Would be great if you have a guide to explain its significance. Not easy to get around with kids as it’s impossible to cover everything in a day.
