Shengui Gorge

The Apeng River originates from Lichuan, Hubei Province. It is a river flowing from east to west in China. It flows through Qianjiang to Youyang and then into the Wujiang River at the ancient town of Gongtan. It is 249 kilometers long and is the largest tributary of the Wujiang River. The Apeng River breaks through the mountains and ridges in Qianjiang, and rushes thousands of miles. The mountains are high, the valleys are deep, and the cliffs are facing each other, forming a unique canyon scenery. Among them, Shengui Gorge is particularly unique. The Grand Canyon (Shengui Gorge) is 38.9 kilometers long and is its typical boutique scenic Attraction. The river channel of Shengui Gorge is zigzagging and winding, with a continuous "S" shape, and there is almost no straight river channel. There are 27 bends and 28 gates (the local name for "a line of sky") throughout the whole course. The number of bends is rare in the canyon. The poet sighed: "The boat is in front of the cliff and there is no way out. Turn the bow and there is another bend." It can be said to be a true portrayal of Shengui Gorge. On the cliffs, there are hanging stalactites everywhere, some on the hillside, and some on the water surface, in various shapes and strange shapes. Typical landscapes include lions watching the tide, apes feeding milk, cow liver and horse lungs, Ganoderma guards, Ganoderma garden, elephant trunks sucking water, monkeys catching the moon, dragon claws, and immortal fields. The water depth in the Shenguixia reservoir is 85 meters, which reduces the relative height difference of the canyon but adds to the charm of the water. Except for the flood period when the water in the upper reaches of the canyon becomes turbid, the rest of the time the river water is as green as jade, creating the unique scenery of the Bitanyou Gorge in Shenguixia. The superior water quality nurtures the best fish in Shenguixia. There are dozens of fish species here, which are naturally fragrant when cooked without muddy smell. There are mandarin fish (commonly known as sow shell), yellow wax fish, silver carp, grouper, etc.
