[Doha Islamic Art Museum] متحف الفن الإسلامي The Doha Islamic Art Museum, designed by Chinese-American architect Pei Xuming, adopts Islamic architectural style. The museum covers an area of 45,000 square meters (480,000 square feet) and is located on the artificial peninsula overlooking the southern end of Doha Bay. The building was completed in 2006 by the Turkish company Baytur Construction. The interior gallery space was designed by the team of Wilmotte Associates. The museum opened on January 22, 2008. The Museum of Islamic Art displays Islamic art from three continents for more than 140 years. Includes metalwork, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, textiles and glass from three continents dating back to the 7th to the 20th century. In addition, the museum houses a collection of works from the late 1980s, including manuscripts, textiles and ceramics. It is one of the most preserved museums in the world with the most complete collections of Islamic artifacts, most of which are native to Spain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, India and Central Asia.
