Penang Town Hall

The Penang Town Hall was built in 1880; the Town Hall on the left is on Wright Street and the City Hall on the right is the new building of the City Council, completed in 1903. A white exterior symbolizes the city council's status and contribution in Georgetown and is also a remarkable architectural landscape of the Old Guantanamo Corner. These two buildings, along with the lawn in front of them, are beautiful and often forget their original function.

Full of rich Victorian style, the building was the headquarters of Penang Island Municipal Council at that time. The Monument to the Martyrs of the First World War also stands here. In 2013, Penang also won the Best City Council Award from Europe.

The city hall in Penang is a monument, but unfortunately not given to visit during renovation.
