Avoid the crowds! 5 Lesser-Known Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Kyoto, Fewer People and Beautiful Scenery
🔸At the end of March, Kyoto is an ocean of cherry blossoms and crowds.
🔸Kiyomizu Temple, Fushimi Inari Taisha, and the Arashiyama tram and other mainstream attractions are all crowded. Every time I go, I am discouraged by the crowds, which really affects the travel experience.
🔸In fact, when visiting Kyoto, there's really no need to stick to those few spots. There are many lesser-known places worth exploring, and the cherry blossoms are beautiful too.
🔸Below are a few lesser-known spots that I keep to myself:
📍1. Kyoto Imperial Palace
The ancient imperial palace of Kyoto, with a thick historical atmosphere. The iconic weeping cherry trees are large and stunning when in full bloom. Moreover, the cherry blossoms here bloom earlier, so if you miss the full bloom, you can try your luck here.
📍2. Kamo River
A free cherry blossom viewing spot that costs nothing, with fewer people and beautiful scenery. It's suitable for walking or cycling, and sitting by the riverbank is also very pleasant. Highly recommended if you don't like crowded places.
📍3. Philosopher's Path
A short 1.5-kilometer path, yet known as Kyoto's most romantic walking route. The cherry trees lining the path are numerous and dense, perfect for cherry blossom viewing, cat watching, dating, and contemplating life.
📍4. Arashiyama
The Togetsukyo Bridge under the cherry trees enhances the area's quaint charm. To enjoy the cherry blossoms, you need to cross the Togetsukyo Bridge to the other side, where there are rivers, small boats, and century-old hot spring inns, creating a full atmosphere.
📍5. Maruyama Park
A lesser-known park near Kiyomizu Temple. It's not very interesting usually, but it's worth visiting during cherry blossom season. There are also many snack stalls under the cherry trees, offering a rare cultural experience.
In recent times, I have come to Kyoto to walk in Kamogawa, walking aimlessly, it seems to be a reservation trip to Kyoto. Eagles fly in the sky, sky sky flying the herons, wild ducks on the river, etc., etc., there is a kind of peace and beauty.
Remember 2019.11 Kansai late autumn trip~ Since I live near the four rivers, when I walk to the four rivers, I will first cross the Kamogawa. Standing on the bridge, looking at the scenery on both sides of the Kamogawa, it is very different taste. During the day, the sky is clear, a few white clouds, a few birds; The sunset in the evening reflected the distant mountains. On both sides of Kamogawa, many shops are enough to stop and hang out, and a red maple in late autumn leads pedestrians to stay.
No matter which season you come to Kyoto, you have to visit Kamogawa, because the four seasons are pleasant. In summer, an extended cold bed will be built in the restaurant near Kawaramachi. In autumn, red leaves on both sides of the Straits will fly.😍 All kinds of ducks and birds are swimming in the river.🦆 There are many locals who are walking and chatting. It is full of freehand. This time I also went to the river gathering mouth near the outing of the willow, a large grassland for people to have a picnic and have fun, and the turtle jumping stone bridge that must be checked in. Location: 30 kilometers long river runs through Kyoto
Traveling to Kyoto, you really can't forget the attraction of Kamogawa, otherwise you will regret it. In addition to the signboard marking the turtle jumping stone, the cool bed in summer is a major feature. While enjoying the food, you can enjoy the scenery of Kamogawa. The sunset is down to the romance of the night, only Kamogawa can do it!
Kamogawa is really clean enough! The water is clear to see the bottom of the river! And the nearby paths are very comfortable. It is recommended 🥰
