#malaka One of the places we visited when my wife and i went to Malacca Malaysia was A Famosa. A Famosa was a Portuguese fortress built in 1512 and thus it has rich history. It was certainly an eye opener for us. We also got to to enjoy the scenic view of Malacca city when we climbed up to the top.Address: Jln Parameswara, Banda Hilir, 78000 Alor Gajah, Melaka, Malaysia
Historical landmark in Banda Hilir and it's surrounded by many museums and nearby attractions. A must visit place for tourists and travelers when in Melaka. Gain new knowledge and info about the ruined fort.
A Famosa (means "The Famous" in Portuguese), other names include Fortaleza Velha Portuguese (meaning the old fortress), or in Dutch, Slavenburgh (meaning the slave castle), or in French, De Misericorde (meaning Our Lady of Mercy. This was a Portuguese fortress built in early 1500s. Part of the fortress was destroyed during the power exchange in the ancient times. So what we can see now are the remains after some archaelogical works discovered these old European architectural remains. The whole area is open and obviously many parts restored. You can walk through the fortress, and sit on the grass outside the fortress to admire it.
