Royal Arcade

The Royal Arcade is located in the city center of Melbourne, Australia. It is one of the existing arcade buildings in the world. It is a traditional arcade shopping mall in the central business district of Melbourne and belongs to the historical heritage building. 1. Melbourne's tourism icon, Melbourne General Post Office Shopping Centre, across the road, opposite the Royal Arcade. In this arcade, there is a not too long and narrow indoor street, connecting LittleCollins Street and Bourke Street, and connecting Elizabeth Street to the west, so this indoor street is T-shaped. Melbourne's "Golden Mile" (Golden Mile) traditional pedestrian street runs through the entire arcade. Along with Melbourne's other arcades, BlockArcade and Melbourne's lanes, it has become a tourist icon of the city. 2. Design Features The original design feature of the Royal Arcade was a high glass roof and window shop. At the southern end of the arcade, there are statues of the mythical figures Gog and Magog (giants who guard London in English lore), and a clock that tells the hours every hour. The top of the arcade was renovated in 2002-2004 to allow daylight into the street inside, making the Royal Arcade even more eye-catching. Nowadays, the natural light in the Royal Arcade is very good. There are shops on both sides of the passage. The small shops in the Royal Arcade are very distinctive, strange, and sell everything. The Royal Arcade is not only a fashion store, but also some special stores, which sell some accessories related to Western metaphysics. 3. Cultural heritage As a symbol of the Victorian arcade, the Royal arcade has been included in the Victorian Cultural Heritage List and is currently one of the tourist attractions in Melbourne. It is famous for its unique architecture and historic shops lining the street.
