Shifen Waterfall

The nearest train station is Shifen, and you will have to walk around 30 minutes to reach the waterfall area. There are a few viewing platforms around the waterfall where you can watch and take photos. Depending on where you are, you may even feel a bit of the waterfall.

Shifen Waterfall is a must-added sightseeing place to add in your itinerary when you visit Taiwan! From Ruifang Station, you can either take the railway train, bus or taxi! Duration: Railway train: only comes every 1hour thus it’s best to plan ahead. Bus: ~10-20mins long Taxi: Less than 10mins! A lot of walking and stairs so it’ll be best to wear something comfortable!

I have been Taiwan for a several times and this was my fifth time to be here. Taiwan is a place with full of love and delicious food here. I went to the famous waterfall in Taiwan which is located in Pingxi District along the Keelung River. It has a height of around 66 feet and is widest waterfall in Taiwan! The name is called Shifen Waterfall and I loved it so much. Moreover, I went to the lover bridge to see the sunset and it was so pretty. I wish I can have more time spending in this wonderful place. I'm not sure if car can directly go to this location but I see all tourists stop mostly at the shifen visitor centre, where there are ample amount of carpark, if you want free parking, there a few located away from the visitor centre just a really short walk. There is also a short walk required from the visitor centre to this scenic shifen waterfall, estimated a 15mins walk? You will be required to cross 2 bridges before you reach the waterfall. At close proximity of the falls, there is a small shop selling souvenirs and some drinks that you can visit too! Do take note, there are 3 lookout points here, 2 are located above one another right by the view point from the shops and another located about a short 4/5min walk away from the falls where it will take you away from the falls but right in the center of the falls. Its basically just a small walk towards the other end.

#fallishere This waterfall is also known as Taiwan's Niagara Falls. An easy walk to from Shifen town, just follow the signs. I would say the walk is about 20 to 30 minutes long from the town. On your way there you will cross a few bridges, and pass some vendor selling pork, jerky, fruits, ice cream and other snacks. Take note that there are a lot of visitors in Shifen Old Street and at the Waterfall on weekends!

Located in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, between Dahua Station and Shifen Station on the Pingxi Line, it is a curtain-style waterfall. The pool below the waterfall is extremely deep, and the waterfall pours down like thousands of horses galloping, creating an impression of a white silk satin plunging into a vast and deep pool. The mist formed by the waterfall often lingers above the pool, and when illuminated by sunlight, a rainbow appears, displaying a dazzling and magnificent spectacle against the clear sky, hence the nickname 'Rainbow Pond'. Shifen Waterfall is known as the 'Niagara Falls of Taiwan' because the inclination of the rock layer is opposite to the flow of water, a situation similar to that of Niagara Falls in North America.
