I enjoyed every bit of this adventure - it was affordable, and the views were absolutely worth the hikes and early starts. Day 1: • Madakaripura Waterfall Stay: Bromo Terrace Hotel & Resto Eat: Bawangan Bromo Hotel & Resto Day 2: (started our day at 2.30am) • Sunrise point at King Kong Hill (only jeeps can access the roads there, and you get some cool pics as well) • Hike Mt. Bromo Stay: Urbanview B Syariah Lumajang Day 3: • Tumpaksewu Waterfall • Goa Tetes Cave Stay: ljen View Hotel & Resort Day 4: (started our day at 11.30pm the PREVIOUS day, slept at 6pm to make it to ljen before sunrise) • Hike Mt. Ijen - there's the option to hike down to see a naturally occuring blue fire, but there were too many people on that day, making the narrow path down quite dangerous. We engaged in a local tour to bring us to the volcano and the vantage point they brought us to is Mount Penanjakan. We woke up during the wee hours of the morning to travel and trek up the mountain to see the sunrise. The sunrise over Mount Bromo is breathtaking! It is one of the most beautiful sunrises that I have ever witnessed. Depending on your fitness level, the trek to the top takes about 20-30 minutes. Embedded within the fabric of this grand geological formation lies a legend - a selfless brave prince who sacrificed his life to appease the God for his family. This myth has been interwoven into the culture of Tengger as during the annual Kasada festival, the people can be seen throwing offerings into the crater of the volcano. This is a once in a lifetime experience that I wish to go again in the near future!

If you plan to go to Bali and also want to join a volcano tour, it's like flying to Chengdu, Sichuan for a vacation and then joining a tour to Yulong Snow Mountain in Lijiang, Yunnan, get it? As for why I didn't sleep for 50 hours? This time, my plan with San Shui was to depart from Chengdu on a red-eye flight AirAsia flight at 23:30 on the 7th, transfer in Kuala Lumpur at 4 am Flight at 9 am on the 8th, landing on Java Island at 14:00 in the afternoon (2-hour time difference) Rest in the hotel for an afternoon and evening, and you can set off to climb the volcano🌋 at dawn But the changes in AirAsia's flights are really too frequent. This resulted in us finally landing on Java Island at 20:30 local time, with the hotel being a 2-hour drive from the airport. This is my fourth time in Indonesia, but my first time visiting this famous Java attraction, Bromo Volcano. I joined a group from Malang, waiting for the sunrise in the dark, the temperature was only 9 degrees, luckily I managed without adding a coat. Then we went on a somewhat experienced trek to the volcano crater, followed by the grasslands and the sand sea, which everyone ignored because they were too tired. Since we set off from Malang, we left the hotel in Malang city at 0:40. On the way back, we visited a place that some people call the 'small waterfall', the Rainbow Waterfall. The ticket price is very low, it's a bit like the main waterfall in the Tongling Grand Canyon in Guangxi that I visited in 2021, but the ticket prices of the two can't be compared.
