Bodbe's St. Nino's Convent

The Georgian Bodbe monastery was built in honor of the conversion of Mirian III, the king of the IBeria dynasty of San Nino, to Christianity. There are exquisite murals and San Nino's mausoleum inside, but photographs are not allowed inside.

As one of the most important monasteries of the Orthodox Church in Georgia, the cemetery of San Nino is in the monastery. San Nino was the first person to spread the Orthodox Church to Georgia, so this monastery is of great significance!

The monastery of San Nino Bodebe was built by King Kahedi to guide the conversion of Georgian nun San Nino. She died in 340 AD in the Zibobe region, where many kings of the Kahedi Kingdom were also crowned, and is an important place of pilgrimage in Georgia. 

Entering this monastery, which already has many tourists, is a very beautiful monastery for repair and care, and the towering trees in the courtyard seem to imply that the monastery has a long history and the lawn is lush and flowery. It is a monastery built in honor of the Christian saint Nino of Han, Georgia, and is said to be in the monastery. Built in the 9th century AD and undergoing a massive renovation in the 17th century, the monastery is one of the main pilgrimages in Georgia. The monastery has an ancient chapel, said to be an Orthodox church. Incense is strong, and in addition to the pictures of the Father and the Son, there are a large number of story murals on the wall about San Nino. Next to the chapel is a tall bell tower, surrounded by ancient trees. There is also a tall new church in the courtyard, which is currently under repair and is not open. There are also large green lawns in the monastery, which are built on the slopes and have a very open outlook. There is also a cemetery under the hillside of the monastery, with many tombstones, not knowing that one belongs to the famous San Nino. Let us be the simplest one with a cross. Standing in the monastery, you can see the plains under the mountain, because the clouds have not completely dissipated, so visibility is still relatively limited. But such a beautiful and large area of monastery is not rare. Because it is a convent, all the real nuns are seen here.

The abbey is 2 kilometers away from the ancient city. The walking lane is narrow and unsafe. After a while, I decided to drive back. The old courtyard is very tasteful, the interior is simple and elegant; the new courtyard is gorgeous but dignified. Seeing nuns doing gardens and cleaning. The surrounding environment is beautiful.

[Sighnighi] 2 hours drive north from Tbilisi to the small town of Signaggi. Georgia is the birthplace of European wines, and there are many historic wineries around the town. The town is a typical European style, built on the mountain, red-top tiles, gray bricks paved the road, and churches. In the afternoon, I came to the mountainside opposite the town, the distant mountains, the floating clouds, and the town unfolded like a dream. The abbey is very beautiful, just repaired, brightly colored.
