The old winemaking district was transformed into an art and cultural recreation area that sells tickets but donates them to charity. The old winery has more than 40 Victorian-era industrial complexes, art galleries, theatres and specialty coffee shops.
The ancient brewery area in Toronto was originally a Toronto brewery, a famous beer distillery, but now it has become a creative cultural area, a bit similar to our Shanghai Xintiandi and Tianzifang. There are many bars and many creative shops here. Every afternoon and evening, it is very lively and is a great place to experience Toronto nightlife.
The Old Brewery was founded in 1832 by Gooderham and Worts. In the 1860s, it was the largest brewery in the world at that time. It was acquired in 2001 and opened in 2003 after renovation, making it the largest cultural and artistic center in Toronto. It is also a national heritage preserve of Canada, one of the best preserved Victorian industrial areas in North America. Gallery, exhibition hall, art studio, clothing store, craft shop, cafe, bar, etc. are everywhere.
The retro red brick wall, formerly a Toronto distillery district, is now open to the public as a literary district with many bars.
