I was attending the AMVETS National Executive Committee Meeting at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott the second week of March. When we first arrived we were greeted with a warm smile at the front desk. Angela P. was the perfect host and the epitome of customer service. Very personable and accommodating to our needs for our stay, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Along with Erin and Darnell, the staff at the front desk and the security officers were outstanding! However, the event group leadership and staff is another story. It seemed that a certain individual was trying to make a name for themselves and in doing so destroyed a great portion of our enjoyment during our stay. I will say he and his minions provided us a memory that will be remembered for quite a long time; a memory exactly opposite of the wonderful service we received at the front desk! Kudos to Angela and her co workers!

We stayed there for one night. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast there and it was good. We went to the bar and boy is that gentleman there the nicest and so personable. This hotel was located in a good area and we walked to the train station to get into see the war memorials in DC. The parking situation was one I did not agree with. We got in late in the day. We paid the $33 (if I remember correctly) and thought that it would be for a 24 hour period. We checked out the next morning and we were billed an additional $33. Truly, for me, that is a bit much/gauging. Other than that, we would highly recommend a stay there.

Hotel is clean, accessible, within my work area. Staff are very accommodating, friendly and approachable.

Our family was in DC for the burial of a family member in Arlington National Cemetery. You can’t beat the location of this hotel in proximity to Reagan International and the cemetery. It’s also a short ride to most of the DC attractions. Food was great at the restaurant, although a little on the pricey side. We had a special family dinner in a separate room the last night we were there and the hotel was very accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. One small issue with no valet later at night was disappointing to us when we returned just before 10pm to find no one outside to valet our car and the front desk letting us know that they went home for the night. There’s the different between a 4 and a 5 star experience.

Check in was easy. The location is great. It may be outdated but it´s clean and the beds are comfy. The resteraunt is open in the morning and from 4 pm. Very nice happy hour and shuttle to and from the airport. I only had to use it to the airport

Stayed 1 week for work as a Diamond member. The Candlewood Suite and the Holiday Inn are really just share one hotel. The front desk people are new and had difficulty with the computer and didn’t seem to know much about the amenities and benefits of different IHG status level. The hotel seems to be undergoing renovation and looks fairly new. PROS: Fairly big suite with nice kitchen (large fridge and microwave), new looking and clean room, fairly quiet, strong toilet, nice hot breakfast at the restaurant/bar (comp for Diamond member). CONS: very weak shower water pressure, terrible toilet paper, was not rewarded Green bonus points for not using housekeeping. Overall, more good than bad, but they really need to do something about the shower water pressure.

I had a horrible experience while staying at this hotel 26 NOV - 1 DEC 2023. . Upon check-in, I was provided a parking pass (4 x 11 piece of paper, not one that hooks on your mirror) to place in my Enterprise rental car (Brand new Nissan Altima). In the morning after my second night, I went out to the parking lot at 6:45 AM and found my car missing. Initially thinking my car was stolen, I went to the front desk and asked if they had camera footage. The first question the front desk clerk asked me was if my parking pass was visible on my front dash. To make a long story short, my car was towed. This hotel contracts with a local towing company (Battlefield Towing) who comes on the hotel grounds on their own (not at the specific request of the hotel) and tows vehicles that don’t have the pass visible on the dash. In my case, the pass had apparently slipped off the dash. The towing company does not check in with the front desk before they tow a vehicle, they send an email to management after the vehicle has been towed. Since the front desk could not get hold of the manager, and I had to get to my worksite, I was left with no choice but to take an Uber to the towing company and pay $200 to get my vehicle back so I could get to my office. I lost 2 hours of work dealing with issue. Rather than look out for its customers (such as letting customers provide their license plate number to the front desk), this hotel chooses to completely outsource their parking management to a towing company whose only motivation is to tow your car so they can make money. I would not be surprised if the hotel has part of my $200. I was assured Hotel Management would call me about this experience, but they never did. I checked out that morning and went to another hotel for the remainder of my stay. Until now I've been a Hilton guy who enjoys staying at Embassy Suites, but I will NEVER stay here again, and will encourage others in my company (23K employees) to not come here either. I will not be part of a hotel who puts a a tiny piece of paper between me and a successful trip. All I can say is watch out for that piece of paper if you stay here. I will be leaving a similar review on other major travel websites, and will also write to Hilton.
