Taiwan Arrival Card Guide: How to Fill Out the Online Immigration Form
Planning a trip to Taiwan? Whether you’re dreaming of bubble tea in Taipei 🧋 or catching sunrise at Alishan 🌄, there’s one important thing to do before you land — submit the Taiwan Online Arrival Card (TWAC). 🛂
I just got back from Taiwan recently (yes, the food was amazing!), and I want to share everything I learned about the arrival process to help fellow Malaysians breeze through immigration. Here’s what you need to know 👇
📄 What’s TWAC?
TWAC stands for Taiwan Online Arrival Card. It’s a mandatory online form that all foreign visitors — including Malaysians — must fill in before arriving in Taiwan.
It was introduced by Taiwan’s immigration department to simplify arrival procedures and reduce paper-based forms at the airport. While the paper version still exists for now, TWAC will fully replace it from 1 October 2025.
🔍 Here’s what the TWAC is in simple terms:
A digital form to be completed within 3 days of arrival, collecting your:
- Full name
- Passport number
- Flight number
- Accommodation address in Taiwan
Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a QR code — show this at immigration when you land.
🧾 Is TWAC a Visa?
Nope! Malaysians can visit Taiwan visa-free for up to 30 days, but TWAC is still required.
TWAC is not a visa — it’s a separate document that records your travel details for immigration purposes.

👥 Who Needs to Submit the TWAC?
If you’re a Malaysian citizen visiting Taiwan for tourism, business, or visiting friends/family, you need to submit the TWAC — even if you’re visa-exempt.
This applies to all foreigners arriving by air who:
- Do not hold a Taiwan residence permit
- Are staying short-term
- Plan to enter through a Taiwanese airport
📝 How to Fill Out the TWAC
💻 Option 1: Online (Highly Recommended!)
Visit the official site: https://twac.immigration.gov.tw/ or https://niaspeedy.immigration.gov.tw
✅ Step 1: Choose Language
Select your preferred language: English, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
(Most Malaysians use English or Chinese.)
✅ Step 2: Fill in Personal Details
Provide:
- Full name (as in passport)
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Nationality (e.g. Malaysia 🇲🇾)
- Passport number
- Passport expiry date
✅ Step 3: Enter Travel Details
Fill in:
- Purpose of entry (e.g., tourism, business, visiting relatives)
- Flight number (arrival to Taiwan)
- Arrival date
- Port of entry (e.g., Taoyuan International Airport)
✅ Step 4: Enter Your Taiwan Address
Provide the address of where you’re staying in Taiwan:
- Hotel name and address
- Or friend/relative’s home (if applicable)
💡 Use your booking confirmation to copy & paste the hotel address correctly.
✅ Step 5: Provide Contact Info
Input:
- Mobile phone number (can be Malaysia or Taiwan number)
- Email address (you’ll receive confirmation here)
✅ Step 6: Submit the Form
Double-check everything, then click Submit.
📧 You’ll receive a confirmation email — sometimes it includes a QR code, but it’s mostly for record purposes.
✅ Step 7: Screenshot or Save Confirmation
📸 Take a screenshot of the final page or confirmation email — just in case you’re asked at immigration (though it's not always required).
🛬 Option 2: At the Airport
Still possible for now, but not ideal. Taiwan airports may still provide paper cards, but with long queues and limited staff assistance. Starting October 2025, the paper option will be discontinued — so better to do it online!

You can submit the TWAC up to 72 hours (3 days) before arriving in Taiwan.

The Howard Plaza Hotel has an excellent location, very close to Daan Forest Park and Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station. The surrounding area has a full range of amenities and is very safe. The staff are attentive and friendly. As an older hotel, the facilities are a bit dated, and the room decor has a classic, slightly old-fashioned feel, but all of this is perfectly acceptable. The only downside was that the room number sign on my floor (I think it was the 6th floor, facing Ren'ai Road) seemed to be incorrect, directing me in the wrong direction from the elevator. I walked all the way to the end of the hall and couldn't find my room, so I had to turn back and eventually found it in the opposite direction. It was a bit frustrating. We recently stayed at the Dinosaur Kingdom Family Room and transferred to a Premier Twin Room the following day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and accommodating, which we truly appreciated.
We especially enjoyed the family room—it was thoughtfully designed and perfect for traveling with a young child. I had initially planned for a two-night stay in this room, but unfortunately, renovations were scheduled to begin the following day. This was a bit disappointing, as it made our time there feel quite short, especially with other activities already planned during our trip.
In comparison to other five-star hotels we’ve stayed in, I did find the lack of flexibility with early check-in a bit surprising, particularly for the themed room. We had hoped to settle in earlier, and similarly, the following day’s transfer to the Premier room was not available early as it was fully booked. While this was different from what I’m used to, I do understand that this may be part of their standard protocol.
On a positive note, we loved the buffet, and the rooms were very comfortable. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, and the playroom area was excellent—clearly designed with families in mind. It was also lovely to see the hotel organizing activities for children. During our stay, there was a special event (like a children’s appreciation day?), where me and my baby were able to participate in arts and crafts and even received small prizes, which made the experience extra memorable.
The swimming pool was decent, though not very large, and the water was quite cold, so we ended up enjoying the bathtub instead.
One area for improvement would be cleanliness. We noticed visible dust in the room, which was concerning—especially since the room is designed for small children, and for someone like me who is diagnosed with allergies to multiple types of dust mites. I did raise this with Lara at the lobby, who kindly apologized and mentioned she would inform housekeeping. However, upon transferring rooms the next day, I still noticed dust in certain areas, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning.
Separately, I also observed that some toiletries (such as conditioner and lotion) were nearly empty upon arrival, suggesting they may not have been checked or replenished prior to our stay.
Despite these points, we genuinely had a pleasant experience overall and would consider returning. I’m also excited and curious to see what the next theme for the family rooms will be after the renovations.DariHK$ 1,769

The hotel's location is super convenient, not far from the MRT station. There are plenty of convenience stores, shops, and a night market nearby, making it easy to get around. The service was pretty good; I didn't touch my luggage after getting out of the car. However, I didn't have many needs or encounter much service to begin with. There were a lot of Japanese staff members... both times I checked in and out, they were Japanese women, and I struggled to understand their Chinese. Maybe they should stick to speaking Japanese... The room was a bit old but perfectly fine, standard for a five-star hotel. Two large brass keys offered the ultimate vintage experience. They're still practicing 'eco-friendliness' by shifting costs to guests, providing a sanitary bag which was genuinely inconvenient since I was on my period. The bathtub wasn't great; at 1.72m, I just barely fit in, it wasn't spacious at all, and it only had one faucet, no adjustment. No slippers or disposables, but I loved the scent of the three bath products. The welcome fruit was a bit of a joke; the welcome pastries, however, surprised me at first, coming in such a large wooden box. But then I thought, how is this different from being handed a random pile of wedding candies? I couldn't eat it all anyway. It was annoying that there wasn't a three-pin socket by the bed to charge my phone's dual Type-C ports; only the desk had two, one 110V and one 220V. Directly opposite the window was just a regular vintage residential building, but there was a distant view of Taipei 101, which was a pleasant surprise.
The public areas exuded old money charm... The underground Regent Galleria is a high-end mall... I'd never seen one inside a hotel before, quite an experience. There were also many dessert shops. For me, zero appeal, zero shopping capability. The design of the restaurant or banquet hall near the lobby was a bit poor, with many steps and no accessibility facilities, still very vintage. There was a piano and cello performance in the pool at the bottom of the building in the evening.
P12-15 The good reviews for this place really come down to nostalgia and food, I guess. I hadn't booked breakfast, but after seeing so many positive reviews, I quickly added it. It was $968 per person. Open from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, with the last seating at 9:30 AM. I went at 9 AM, and it was mostly full, so it's clearly very popular. The variety was indeed rich, with many ********* specialties, and the taste was decent, though not amazing. Great location with unbeatable convenience. The hotel is right across from Taipei Main Station, making it very easy to access MRT, HSR, and TRA.
It’s also surrounded by shops and F&B options. I especially enjoyed the nearby old food stalls selling egg pancake, delicious toast bread, soya bean milk, and milk tea. Ximending Night Market is walkable from the hotel, which is a big plus.
Even at 3am, I could still grab snacks because FamilyMart is open 24 hours everywhere.

The hotel is located near to the Zhongxiao Dunhua station (exit 3) and walking distance from Ming Yao Department Store, Taipei Dome, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. There are also many convenience stores within the vicinity and famous donut stores nearby. During our stay, we travelled by foot from the hotel to Pokemon Center Taipei, Taipei 101 and even to Linjiang Night Market.
The room is spacious. There are bathtub and shower in our room, but due to the law in Taiwan, please prepare your own toothbrush and toothpaste. There are also luggage weighing machine and coin-laundry machines in a small room on the floor where they serve breakfast. While not to expect a widespread of choices, I think their breakfast selection is a decent combination of local dishes and western options. Special mention that their pineapples are very sweet!
If you are interested, you may also check out over the counter on the selection of local products that can be ordered and delivered to the hotel. It may save you trouble to locate some of the famous brands in Taipei.

The hotel is a bit dated, which wasn't exactly what I had hoped for, but I was aware of it when making the reservation. Naturally, I would have preferred more modern facilities; however, the excellent service, convenient location, and outstanding breakfast buffet more than made up for it.

An excellent stay! The room was very spacious, and the location was super convenient. It's just over 100 meters from Exit 1 of Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT Station, and only two stops from Taipei Main Station. Getting to Taoyuan Airport by express train takes less than an hour. There are multiple FamilyMart and 7-Eleven stores nearby, plus a Don Quijote. The hotel used to be a bank vault, so the decor is quite unique. They offer welcome drinks and a free snack buffet. It's only 500 meters from Fuhang Soy Milk and just 200 meters from Simple Kaffa, the world champion coffee shop, along with other cafes – all within walking distance. Huashan 1914 Creative Park is right next door. Overall, it's an incredibly convenient hotel. The soundproofing is decent; I slept well without much noise from the street or cars. Room was alittle rustic and there are two lifts. I wouldn’t put too high of an expectations over their onsen or private sauna but is nice to have it especially if it gets too cold .
