🚗 Self-drive (The most freedom!)

If you're travelling with a group, I’d probably go for a self-drive. It takes around 1 to 1.5 hours from central Kuala Lumpur, depending on traffic. As you make your way up the mountain, you’ll start to feel the temperature dropping, and honestly, that cool breeze feels pretty shiok after being in KL’s heat 😂🌬️. The best part about driving is the flexibility. You don’t have to worry about bus schedules, and it’s much more convenient if you’re carrying luggage, staying overnight, or travelling with the whole family.

⚠️ One thing to take note: Genting can get really busy on weekends, school holidays and public holidays. If you’re driving, I’d suggest heading out early to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

🚌 Take the bus (Budget-friendly & hassle-free)

Not keen on driving up the mountain? Taking the bus is actually a pretty convenient option too! You can find buses heading towards Genting from places like KL Sentral and TBS. If it’s your first time going up and you’re not familiar with the mountain roads, I’d say taking the bus is quite relaxing. Just hop on, put on your earphones, take a nap or scroll through your phone 😆. Once you reach the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (GPO) area, you can take the cable car up to the main resort area. It’s also a good choice if you’re travelling with friends and don’t want the hassle of driving and finding parking.

If you’re driving or taking a bus to the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (GPO) area, you can continue your journey by taking the Awana SkyWay 🚡. Personally, I think the cable car ride is part of the Genting experience. On a clear day, you can enjoy the mountain views as you slowly make your way up. The ride is pretty relaxing too, especially when you’re just there to chill and escape the city for a while ☁️⛰️. You can also stop at Chin Swee Caves Temple along the way before continuing to the main resort area and SkyAvenue.

If you don’t want to drive and can’t be bothered figuring out bus routes, ride-hailing is another option 🚕. You can book a ride from KL to Genting, but keep in mind that the fare can vary depending on the time, demand and where you’re starting from. If you’re travelling with a few friends, splitting the fare can make it a little more worthwhile.

Caught in the rain? No worries! 🌧️ Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park is a great backup plan when the weather isn’t cooperating, or if you simply prefer staying indoors. There are plenty of rides here, from more relaxed attractions to more exciting thrill rides. I’d say it’s especially worth checking out if you’re travelling with kids or a group of friends, since you can still have a good time without worrying about the weather.

And honestly, having an indoor option is pretty shiok when Genting suddenly decides to rain halfway through your plans 😂.

If it’s your first time in Genting, I’d definitely recommend taking the Awana SkyWay 🚡. The cable car ride itself is part of the experience, especially when the weather is nice and you can see the mountains stretching out below you. On a clear day, the views can be pretty impressive. If you happen to catch some fog, the whole ride feels completely different, with the mountains covered in mist 🌫️. Very Genting vibes!

You can also stop by Chin Swee Caves Temple along the way before continuing up to the main resort area. Just remember to check the cable car’s operating status before you go, especially if the weather looks bad or there’s heavy rain.

Chin Swee Caves Temple

Not in the mood to spend the whole day at the theme park? Then take a little break at Chin Swee Caves Temple 🌿. Located on the hillside of Genting Highlands, the temple is surrounded by greenery and mountain views, with much cooler air compared to KL. There are several Buddhist structures and large statues around the temple, and the atmosphere here is much more peaceful compared to the busy resort area.

I’d say it’s a nice place to slow down, take some photos and just enjoy the scenery for a while 📸. And since you can stop here when taking the Awana SkyWay, it’s quite easy to fit into your Genting itinerary too.

Hotel is further up so pros is nice views, cons is harder to get grab (if you don’t drive/rent vehicle). Convenient location as McDonald delivery also manage to deliver to hotel location. There is also food, Marts, laundry etc in 1 km. Saw some tourists walk down as well. Hotel has 2 toilet, small tv not able to play Netflix etc unless you have HDMI to connect your own devices. There is one bedroom without aircon as its door is sliding door (queen bed) so got to leave it open slightly to get the hallway aircon.

We had a splendid staycation here at Geo Resort & Hotel. Starting with a smooth check in process, easy access parking, there were mini stalls just outside the hotel lobby until 10pm, the hotel located very near to lots of eateries & convenient stores. We had our dinner at Mohd Chan just walking distance from the hotel. The hotel room was cozy & clean enough. The amenities provided were good, I love the shower gel & shampoo because they smelled so refreshing. The breakfast spread was limited but tasted excellent! Please try their roti canai, so good! I would recommend this hotel to anyine coming to Genting Highlands. We look forward for our next staycation here.

The room was ok, but overall cleanliness was not good. There were many cigarette remnants and bread crumbs near the window. The service provider by the number of 0126739878 is not professional and not responsive. I was having issue of getting the key card and locating the mail box, and i try to call the number, but the operator refuse to take my call for 8 times. It was frustrating when u couldn't get the check in process done and the operator refuse to take my call. i will not book through this operator anymore

We enjoyed the stay. There is a small indoor playground and cartoon for the children at the lobby. The kids love it. No mozzies and it was actually quite cold at night. Sufficient beds for a family of 4. Mattresses are on the floor so not worried young children will fall off the bed. Everything was good, it is just 2 mins walk to theme park. The only down side is there’s no dedicated parking area for SkyWorld Hotel, we actually parked at Highlands Hotel parking area (opposite road to SkyWorld Hotel).

Room quite good after refurbished. The hotel has kindly given me 26th floor with nice golf view. The staffs at Ayu Awana was polite & friendly. I wanted to try the Lodge but it was closed for private events. I went for a walk along the golf course. Had a good morning exercise & ordered hot mocha & cheesecake after the walk. Cheesecake taste need some improvement I guess, overall a good stay for me.

My experiences stay at Midhills.First night worst, because the aircond not working properly every 1 an hour or 30 minutes shut down. Cannot sleep very well. The next day I had inform receptionist to check then Mr Azim come to check he said censor problem and he is suggest me to change because its to hot and my spouse is pregnant and cannot sleep. The service is very good he know my situation and then Ms Mashitah direct call me to change room. she give me two option which room is suitable for me and wife. The check-in experience was horrible, was informed by estate management that room was not ready even at 4:30pm (chk in supposed to be 3:00pm). Trip.com has to step in but seems the communication between Trips.com and estate management ((Stonez7) does not go well. I somehow managed to get into the unit at 5.00pm after few round of close follow-up. The room was cosy but cleanliness could be improved. Dust still found on the floor. The shower temperature is hard to control. In most cases, we have to bathe with cold water. We were asked to leave the unit by 11:00am on the final day. Even though we have been informed during check in that they have extended our check out time by additional 2 hours. This is totally a big disappointment as seems there has been miscommunication here and there. Anyway, plus point is that the unit come with balcony and view is nice. We are fortunate to see double rainbow from our balcony.

We like RustCamps location as it is not too far up and has lots of amenities nearby. Stayed with family for a weekend getaway birthday celebration. Great bbq facilities and space. Mr Yelil was accommodative to our request and always check on us if we were doing ok. Is a really nice place for gathering with family or friends for a relaxing getaway. Overall, everyone enjoyed and had a great time.

This trip was a big family vacation, so we wanted to stay close to each other for convenience. At first, we thought it was a hotel group with multiple units on the same floor of this building. We originally thought it was a serviced apartment. It turned out to be a 'bnb,' and we only have ourselves to blame for not doing our homework. But unfortunately, it's a company that bought multiple different types of rooms across different buildings (a total of 4 buildings). If it were just one family staying, it wouldn't be a big problem. But for over 10 of us, we had told the 'bnb' in advance that we hoped to be arranged nearby. Upon arrival, we were told it wasn't possible, and we were even split into 2 different buildings. When we arrived, we didn't know how to check in, and the bnb hadn't contacted us either. We went to the mall's information desk, and they told us to call the bnb. When we finally reached the B&B, we had to take photos of our IDs and send them, which initially made us suspect we were being scammed. The whole check-in process was a bit complicated (and self-service 🤣). However, the building is new, and the room furnishings are relatively new and complete. Not all room types are the same; we booked 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom units. One of them had a jacuzzi, which the kids were thrilled to see. But unfortunately, the 'jacuzzi' we were promised was broken and had no hot water. In a cool place like Genting, playing in a jacuzzi (with cold water) was a no-go, so we eventually gave up 🫣😂 (Another night, they arranged another room for us, claiming the jacuzzi worked and indeed had hot water, but by the time we checked in, there was already a huge tub of water, and it would have taken two or three hours to drain it, so we gave up on that too 😅). The location of these B&Bs is a 20-minute walk from the Genting hotels/casino (we are relatively young and walk faster). For seniors, walking to Genting is not recommended, as it's a bit strenuous (the return trip is manageable). There was also a small incident: upon check-in, we were informed that our check-out day was the annual electricity inspection day, so there would be a power outage. There would be no electricity from 8 AM that morning. To avoid being in a room without power or in the elevator, we had to leave before 8 AM. Luckily, we could reach the lobby before the elevators stopped working (we asked a security guard, and he said the elevators would be out for about an hour and a half). Overall, the experience was average. I'm not sure if multiple staff members were contacting us via WhatsApp; some had good attitudes, but others were quite rude.

Check-in was an absolute breeze, and the staff were incredibly nice, welcoming, and helpful right from the start.We booked the 2-Bedroom Suite, and it looked exactly like the photos online.The view from our room was absolutely beautiful, directly facing the brightly lit mountain peak of Resorts World Genting and the casino complex. It was stunning to look at, especially at night! The entire building is brand new, modern, and very well-maintained. A huge credit goes to the housekeeping team—the room was spotlessly clean, and the beds were beautifully made. They clearly do a phenomenal job! The location is also excellent. It is located very close to a great selection of local restaurants. The view of the room is Highly recommended for families or groups looking for a clean, comfortable, and hassle-free stay in Gohtong Jaya. We will definitely be back!

First, i find the naming of all the hotels confusing. Genting should just have unique names for their hotels rather than Highlands hotel - formerly known as Resorts Hotel. Then they have RW hotel formerly known as something else, Sky world hotel, Resorts World. Don't repeat the words Resort, World, Highland and make them unique. There is nothing seriously wrong except for the price. For its price, I expected the hotel to be much better. The rooms are rather jaded to be frank. I mean the price of Resorts world is about a fifth of what I paid for Highlands hotel - makes me really wonder what I am getting foe such a premium price.

The room is spacious. But the toilet have that kind of smell that you know its not properly cleaned. There are even doodle marks on the mirrors. I usually sleep on 22c and yesterday 18c still feels average cold. Probably need maintainance. The breakfast selections was ok given the price is cheap. But as i was about to take the food suddenly a wasp fell off on the toaster oven before it flew on the wall next to it. Told the staff yet they didnt do anything about it. Anyone cound get bitten giving that the dining room wasnt that big. I give it 6/10 for the stay.

An old but practical hotel. Not for honeymoon but good enough for families. No swimming pool onsite, no free parking onsite during weekdays. Did not try the foods at the coffeehouse. Near to many eateries within walking distance but only 2 halal eateries in this area. Not far from the GPO. No mosque nearby. Good enough for short vacation for not so demanding families. Not for the stylish travellers. At night can be quite noisy as the hotel is by the roadside. Book without doubt.

This property located at a good location in genting permai where surrounded with many facilities such as KK mart, 7eleven, food stall, starbucks, patrol station. The aparment amenities is quite good where has a roof top swimming pool. Indoor ping pong room & gym. About the properties experiences, the property is well clean, nice interior design however i just a bit dissatisfied on the air cond under master room where it was autamatically stop after 10-15 minutes operated with it was default on the timer even try top reset it but it still happen. The aircond also is not really cool. Maybe the maple technician must look into this as priority. This also for the ceiling Fan inside the master room only can go for speed number 4. Other than that is not functioning . All the rest for me is good. This time visit i give 3 star out of 5. TQ

The water pressure from the shower is low, one of us had to shower cold water until we manage to figure out the water pump. The host sent their maintenance guy to fix the water pump the next day at 9am (when we were still sleeping). Couldn't find the AC remote, took us 30 minutes to final find it next to one of the beds. The kitchen sink was clogged and making noise. Parking is a hassle as it's open air and you need to park quite a distance if you get back late. It was raining when we arrived, so we were all soaked due to the open air parking. We called the host at 12am to ask about the water pressure, he was responsive and helped us (over the phone) to sort it out. Water pressure is still low, but I guess that's the ”normal” pressure. Room can fit 6 adults comfortably. Good sound proofing.

The only minor inconvenience was that the front desk service was located in a different building. Other than that, the facilities and environment were excellent. It was a two-bedroom, one-living room unit with ample space and great views. It was clean and hygienic, very comfortable for two people. Owner was fast to respond to any needs Except we were expecting 2 single BEDS (as described in booking page), but was a little disappointed with only 2 single MATTRESS provided. So the kids had to sleep on the floor 😬 Also follow the instructions given in the series of photos. There are many tower blocks and lifts so things can be easily confused. There’s a water dispenser outside our room so that’s very helpful 👍

Parking instruction is clear that helps too. Staying wise, with this price is definitely a good deal. Probably, due to off peak season. I could imagine during weekend or peak period this place will be crowded and the facilities will be insufficient. The lift at the facilities side could be an issue when crowded. Location wise, walking distance to restaurants, convenient shops and nearby skyway and GPO.

The apartment was just right for our group of six women, with two King Size beds and one single room. There were also two additional single mattresses that could be laid on the floor if needed, accommodating two more people. All the facilities in the house were great, but there was nowhere to hang things except inside the wardrobe. We had to drape wet towels or clothes over furniture in the living room or on chairs outside. I'd suggest adding a clothes rack in the bathroom – it's really inconvenient without one! 😅
