第一次去台湾的时候，我也是到最后收拾行李才突然想到：“Eh 台湾插座跟 Malaysia 一样吗？我的 charger 可以直接用吗？” 😅 结果一查才发现，原来台湾插座真的跟马来西亚不一样。如果没有先准备好转换插头，到那边真的有可能连手机都 Charge 不到电，尤其现在大家出门都超依赖手机、power bank、laptop，没电真的会很焦虑 🥲 而且除了插座，其实台湾电压也跟 Malaysia 不一样。有些电器可以直接用，但有些如果没注意，就不能开，严重的话甚至会烧掉 🔥。所以这篇我就帮大家一次整理好台湾插座、电压、转换插头这些最常见的问题。准备去台湾自由行的话，出发前先看这篇就够啦 ✈️
⚡ 台湾插座跟马来西亚一样吗？
台湾插座和 Malaysia 插座是不一样的哦！😭 马来西亚用的是三脚插座（Type G），就是我们平时最常见那种大大的三脚插头。但台湾大部分用的是两脚扁插（Type A），所以很多 Malaysia 的 charger 是不能直接插进去的 ⚠️。简单来说：

🔌 台湾用什么插座？
台湾最常见的是 Type A 插座，也就是那种「两脚扁扁的插头」。你在台湾大部分地方看到的都会是这种，不管是：
- 🔍 酒店
- 🔍 民宿
- 🔍 咖啡厅
- 🔍 机场
- 🔍 百货公司
基本上都以两孔插座为主 🔌。不过有些比较新的饭店或建筑，也会看到 Type B 插座。它跟 Type A 很像，只是多了一根圆形接地孔。简单来说可以这样理解 👇：

其实台湾插座看起来会有点像日本或美国那种，所以如果你之前去过日本、美国，可能会觉得很熟悉。不过对马来西亚旅客来说，最大问题还是：我们的三脚插头通常不能直接插 😅 尤其很多 laptop charger、吹风机那种大插头，更加不能直接用，所以 travel adapter 一定要带！另外我发现台湾有些比较旧一点的住宿，插座数量很多时候都很少。所以如果你是跟朋友一起旅行，大家晚上 Charge 电话、power bank、相机的时候，就会不够用了 😥 所以我现在去台湾都会：

⚠️ 台湾电压是多少？
除了插座不一样，其实台湾电压也跟 Malaysia 不同。台湾使用的是：
- ⚡ 110V 电压
- ⚡ 60Hz 频率
而马来西亚则是：⚡ 240V 电压。所以很多人第一次去台湾都会担心：“我的 charger 会不会烧掉？” 😭 不过好消息是，现在大部分手机、Laptop、Camera charger 其实都可以自动转换电压，所以基本上不用太担心。像我自己每次带去台湾的：

全部都是直接充，没有问题 👍 还有一点，你可以注意一下 charger 上面有没有写：“INPUT: 100-240V” 。如果有的话，就代表它在全球都可以使用，包括台湾。

The Howard Plaza Hotel has an excellent location, very close to Daan Forest Park and Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station. The surrounding area has a full range of amenities and is very safe. The staff are attentive and friendly. As an older hotel, the facilities are a bit dated, and the room decor has a classic, slightly old-fashioned feel, but all of this is perfectly acceptable. The only downside was that the room number sign on my floor (I think it was the 6th floor, facing Ren'ai Road) seemed to be incorrect, directing me in the wrong direction from the elevator. I walked all the way to the end of the hall and couldn't find my room, so I had to turn back and eventually found it in the opposite direction. It was a bit frustrating. Hotel lobby was under renovation, hence it was noisy, luckily they helped us change to our room that is further away from the renovation noise. I booked this hotel because of the swimming pool. The pool looked big in the photo, but actually it’s quite small. They have sauna and hot bath place, which was nice. I stayed here nine years ago, and its convenient location was a major plus, as was the attractive window design in the rooms back then. The facilities are still decent now, but they're starting to feel a bit outdated.
The air conditioning temperature control is inaccurate; it's either too cold or too humid and hot. The lack of disposable toiletries, and even conditioner, is quite inconvenient, but I respect the environmental policy. As I've gotten older, my sleep has become lighter, and I've started to notice how poor the soundproofing is. I could constantly hear the elevator doors opening, and even feel the vibrations from the trains downstairs.

I stayed for 5 consecutive nights, and from my room, I could see Taipei's landmarks like Taipei 101 and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Every day, I could also grab free snacks from the hotel's 'gan-a-pu' (a small convenience store), and they even provided a small bag for them, which was a thoughtful touch. The only minor drawback was one night when I was woken up by some noise. I called the front desk, and they immediately sent staff up to investigate. They said it was a pipe sound. Some hotels give you a room. Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei gave us a base for a trip we'll talk about for years. From the moment we walked in, the place felt considered, elegant without being cold, warm without losing its polish. That balance is rare, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
Traveling with kids changes what matters most in a stay, and this hotel understood that instinctively. My children felt safe here, genuinely safe, the kind of safe that let them run ahead in the lobby and laugh without me flinching. Security throughout the property was excellent, present but never intrusive, the kind of quiet competence that lets a family actually relax instead of staying on guard.
The location did the rest. Close enough to walk to some of Taipei's best food, the kind of meals that turn into stories you tell later, and near enough to the city's main sites that our days felt full without ever feeling rushed. Every outing started and ended easily, which meant more time enjoying Taipei and less time managing logistics.
Back at the hotel each evening, the rooms were spacious, immaculate, and quietly luxurious, the kind of space that makes you want to slow down. Staff treated our kids with the same warmth and respect they showed us, which matters more than most hotels realize.

This is probably the most cost-effective hotel in Taipei. The room size is decent, but it's definitely showing its age. There was a stale, sweaty smell in both the room and the hallway. The executive lounge service was excellent, no complaints there. However, the front desk service on the first floor was absolutely terrible. An elderly lady couldn't hear what the staff member was saying, and the short-haired staff member repeated herself several times with extreme impatience, then threw things and rolled her eyes, which was quite disgusting. There were a lot of Japanese guests, and it was very noisy at night. As per other reviews, the location is perfect. It is linked to the Taipei Main station. The hotel can be accessed through the basement via exit M6 (staircase but sheltered) and M8 (escalator, but need to cross the road). The downside of the room is the aircon faces and blows directly on the face when laying on the bed. It can be disturbing when sleeping. The hotel is located near to the Zhongxiao Dunhua station (exit 3) and walking distance from Ming Yao Department Store, Taipei Dome, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. There are also many convenience stores within the vicinity and famous donut stores nearby. During our stay, we travelled by foot from the hotel to Pokemon Center Taipei, Taipei 101 and even to Linjiang Night Market.
The room is spacious. There are bathtub and shower in our room, but due to the law in Taiwan, please prepare your own toothbrush and toothpaste. There are also luggage weighing machine and coin-laundry machines in a small room on the floor where they serve breakfast. While not to expect a widespread of choices, I think their breakfast selection is a decent combination of local dishes and western options. Special mention that their pineapples are very sweet!
If you are interested, you may also check out over the counter on the selection of local products that can be ordered and delivered to the hotel. It may save you trouble to locate some of the famous brands in Taipei.

I’ve seen a lot of videos recommending this hotel so i booked it. Location is great but it’s not near to the station, you have to walk around 10-15mins to Ximen station and about 20mins to Taipei main station. Staffs were just neutral, not super friendly but they do their jobs. Check in was smooth (they have 24hrs front desk) and I requested for 2 additional pillows (they only provided 2 in the room) and they granted my request with no additional payments. What i didn’t know is how thin the walls are and We got unlucky with the room next to us. He set an alarm almost every minute with different ring tones. And he didn’t wake up from his own alarm 🥲I went down to front desk and earplugs were given for free. We ended up canceling our 1st day trip due to lack of sleep. By the next night, I sleep better (but still keep waking up because earplugs hurt my ears)

The location is good, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, which makes getting around very convenient. The lobby is beautiful, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
However, considering the overall standard of the hotel, I expected better maintenance of the room. The bathroom felt quite dated, and the shower curtain did not prevent the water from getting onto the bathroom floor. I also noticed stains on the carpet and a towel with a hole in it.
Considering the price I paid, I expected a higher standard of room maintenance.

Hygiene: There's a magnetic sticker on the door, so you can request daily cleaning. The housekeeping staff are incredibly efficient; the room was sparkling clean by the time I finished breakfast.
Facilities: The room isn't small, and the window offers a view of Ximending street. It has a smart TV for screen mirroring, so you can watch Netflix and YouTube. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area. Disposable slippers are provided, but not disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, or shower caps. The soundproofing is good, but the air conditioning fan is too loud, even on the lowest setting. The breakfast menu changes daily and is mostly Western. Free drinks and snacks are available from afternoon to evening.
Environment: It's right next to Ximen MRT Station, and there's a bus stop nearby that goes to almost all city attractions. Ximending is just around the corner, very lively at night with lots of food options. Downstairs, there's a Hello Kitty themed 7-Eleven, an Animate manga store, and a Family Mart.
Service: The front desk staff are all very patient and enthusiastic, with excellent service attitudes. Free luggage storage is available.

An excellent stay! The room was very spacious, and the location was super convenient. It's just over 100 meters from Exit 1 of Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT Station, and only two stops from Taipei Main Station. Getting to Taoyuan Airport by express train takes less than an hour. There are multiple FamilyMart and 7-Eleven stores nearby, plus a Don Quijote. The hotel used to be a bank vault, so the decor is quite unique. They offer welcome drinks and a free snack buffet. It's only 500 meters from Fuhang Soy Milk and just 200 meters from Simple Kaffa, the world champion coffee shop, along with other cafes – all within walking distance. Huashan 1914 Creative Park is right next door. Overall, it's an incredibly convenient hotel. The soundproofing is decent; I slept well without much noise from the street or cars. Decent hotel for budget travelers who prefer to be out all day rather than indulge in amenities. The concierge on Basement 1 has a selection of free snacks (crackers, biscuits etc.) and cup noodles you can just swipe for the day's itinerary. Daily breakfast offers congee, rice, and about 3-4 entrees, and a coffee machine (espresso or americano). The deluxe triple room we booked was spacious as was the bathroom. Room details were average and new-ish. The heavy curtains concealed old steel windows. Beddings and towels were changed every other day or so but could be also changed upon request. Staff was helpful and could communicate well in English. We appreciated its nearness to multiple 7-11s, Watsons, and bakeries. 1. Misleading Entrance Signage
Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable.
2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance
When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside?
3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior
After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues.
As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight.
We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of:
- Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance
- Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival
- Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior
We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future.

This is my second time staying here, and the front desk staff are just as friendly and provide excellent service as before. I really love ********* culture! 🥰🥰 I'm very satisfied with my stay; they even upgraded our room, which made me really happy! 🥰 The lobby environment is consistently great, and it's very suitable for families with children. The location is super convenient too – there's a FamilyMart and 7-Eleven downstairs, as well as a foot massage place. Just a 3-minute walk from the hotel, you'll find a Sanrio-themed 7-Eleven, and right opposite that is the entrance to Ximen Underground Street. I stayed for five days and four nights continuously. The staff provided excellent and patient service. The hotel also offered a free postcard mailing service. The hotel facilities were a pleasant surprise, as they not only had self-service washing machines and dryers (with irons, detergent, etc.) but also a variety of teas, coffees, and welcome drinks. The lobby also had various child-friendly facilities.

📍 Location & Surroundings: The location is incredibly convenient, right near Taipei Main Station. The area is bustling with tons of options for food and souvenirs. However, it's worth noting that most places nearby are grab-and-go, so if you're looking for a sit-down restaurant, your choices might be more limited.
🎠 Unique Lobby & Family-Friendly: The reception lobby on the 4th floor is very unique, with a charming American retro and playful design, and it even has a kids' play area. The lobby thoughtfully provides free bottled water, hot and cold beverages, afternoon tea snacks, and various treats. The kids had a fantastic time playing here!
🛏️ Room Space & Design (A bit disappointing): The room space was smaller and more basic than expected. There was only one chair in the room, so if two people wanted to sit and relax, they had to take turns. This was our first onsen-in-room experience, and the room itself was spectacular. We were upgraded to a premium room with outdoor onsen and hinoki bathtubs. Happy hour, dinner, and breakfast were all wonderful. However, all hospitality ended the moment we checked out.
We left our luggage at 11 AM and returned at 6:30 PM to collect it before our 7 PM ride. Upon entering, a staff member stopped me and defensively asked what my business was. After explaining we just needed to wait in the lounge, we were met with total coldness. We knew we weren't entitled to the ongoing happy hour, but to not even be offered a glass of water at a premium hotel charging RM1,500+++ a night is unacceptable. We felt completely unwelcome and awkward.

The location is great, wished it was slightly closer to the MRT station (around 10 minute walk from Nanjing Sanmin Station). Only 5 minute walk from Raohe Night Market so you don't need to worry about what to eat every night.
The hotel is well kept and very clean, we were assigned to a room in B1, no views but not a big issue. Breakfast is available for additional fee (200 NTD per person). Hotel staffs were very helpful and friendly. No gym at the facility but I think it's fairly common for the hotels in this price range in Taipei.

Shuttle bus from mrt station was on time, reception service was great. Room was dimly lit for the intended ambience. Use a swimwear that you intend to toss afterwards because of the sulphur smell cus the milktea looking onsen water smell will linger. Outdoor onsen was much better than private room onsen because of the view and rainy-cooling weather. Felt like heaven soaking in their 39-43 degree celcius hot pools & their cool pools. Kinda far from the restaurant/ eateries outside so prepare to take the shuttle bus out or uber, if not you can just pay more for the japanese restaurant. Travel adapters can be borrowed at a refundable 200NTD deposit. Overall, I believe this is the best “outdoor” onsen experience in Beitou. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at The Gaia Hotel. Nestled in a quiet and secluded part of Beitou, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently located near attractions such as the Beitou Library and local market.
The service was warm, friendly and genuinely welcoming. The attentive staff remembered small details that made us feel especially well cared for, such as our shuttle bus bookings and even my preferred drink, which was served to me each morning when I arrived at the restaurant for breakfast. The shuttle bus drivers were also extremely friendly and always looked out for our comfort and well-being.
Breakfast was served semi-buffet style, with a delicious spread. I particularly enjoyed the fresh and varied salad bar and honestly, the food was worth every calorie! We also tried the Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea, which was beautifully presented and a very interesting experience.
Our room was large, spacious and extremely comfortable. The luxurious Bvlgari toiletries were the perfect finishing touch.
The main purpose of our stay was to enjoy the onsen and it certainly did not disappoint. It was fabulous, peaceful and not too crowded, which made the experience even more calming and soothing.

Except for the location amd pillows, everything was good! Location wise - Quite in to the middle seems like no where. They do provide shuttle service to & fro to the nearest Xin Beitou station 9am - 9pm.
Pillows were too flat even though they provided us with a total of 4. Stacked it up but was still flat. Im like literally sleeping on nothing. My partner's neck was crying for help. Pillows can be improved.
Room was decently clean. Had a good soak with our private in room hot spring water tub. Toilet and shower room were seperated. Water pressure for shower was ok. Can be stronger.
Aircon was ok for all sorts of adjustments.
No amenities provided unless you wanna purchase from them through the reception counter (we brought our own)

I was certainly it was coming from the air-conditioning as the second room that we got on our second stay do not smell the same. A Serious Failure in Management and Guest Service
I have never experienced this level of poor service and lack of management oversight at a hotel.
Throughout my stay, I had to repeatedly request housekeeping, yet my room was still not cleaned as expected. More seriously, there was even an occasion when I needed to use the bathroom and discovered that there was no toilet paper available.
I immediately brought this issue to the attention of the front desk. However, despite making a formal complaint, the exact same problem occurred again the following day.
At that point, this could no longer reasonably be considered a simple oversight or an isolated housekeeping mistake. The hotel had already been made aware of the problem, yet nothing appeared to have been done to prevent it from happening again.
The most disappointing part is that these issues continued until the day I checked out. After repeatedly reporting the same problems without seeing any meaningful improvement, I eventually stopped complaining simply because I no longer believed that doing so would make any difference.
A hotel may occasionally make a mistake — that is understandable. What is unacceptable is failing to correct a problem after a guest has already brought it to management's attention. This reflects a serious breakdown in communication between departments, inadequate supervision, and a lack of accountability at the management level.
Basic housekeeping and essential bathroom supplies are not unreasonable requests. They are fundamental standards that guests should be able to expect without having to repeatedly chase the hotel for them.
What concerns me most is that the hotel appeared to have multiple opportunities to correct the situation, yet failed to do so. This suggests that the issue is not simply with an individual staff member, but with the way the hotel’s service operations are being managed and supervised.
This experience seriously damaged my trust in the hotel and left me with a very negative impression of its overall management and service standards. A hotel’s reputation is built on how it treats guests, especially when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, the hotel failed not only to deliver basic service, but also to respond effectively when those failures were brought to its attention.
I sincerely hope management does not dismiss this as a minor housekeeping issue. The repeated nature of these problems, combined with the lack of effective follow-up, represents a significant management failure and can seriously damage guest trust, customer satisfaction, and ultimately the hotel’s reputation.
For me, the most disappointing part was not that a mistake happened. It was that the hotel was given multiple opportunities to fix it — and chose not to.DariIDR 696,490

It's evident this is a very old Japanese-owned hotel. The location is excellent, and the service attitude is incredibly good, but unfortunately, it all feels superficial. The check-in process was a bit cumbersome; they even wrote down the wrong room number. It wasn't until after going up and down twice that I realized the mistake. Luckily, I didn't open an occupied room, or it would have been a much bigger problem.
The lobby manager was polite and immediately came to apologize, offering a fruit platter as compensation. But when we returned later, where was the fruit platter? I guess they forgot. Or maybe it was just a perfunctory offer from the start.
To my surprise, I had to pay a deposit upon check-in. What year is this rule from? Do other Japanese hotels still maintain this practice?
It was clear that most of the guests were Japanese. Did we receive this treatment because we aren't Japanese?
Customers come to spend money and expect tangible service, not just a good attitude.

I have to say, the room felt really outdated, like I was stepping back into the 2010s. The air conditioning was dripping, though it worked well. Also, definitely avoid the 'power car house' room type. I didn't realize the difference from a standard room at first, but it turns out these rooms are right in the parking lot. While they are a bit more spacious, if you have the option, definitely go for a standard room. You also have to walk quite a bit just to turn off the lights, making the whole room feel pretty old-fashioned. The location, however, is unbeatable. It's very close to Yongchun MRT station and just a short bus ride (about 5 stops) to Taipei 101 and the Xinyi commercial district, with direct bus routes both ways. The service, food, hot spring tub were excellent and the staff was very attentive. The only thing I wish could have been better is the outlets to plug my phone into. We couldn’t find one in the bedroom/sleep quarters (Japanese tatami). So make sure to bring a portable charger if you don’t want to be away from your phone. Another advice would be more of a treat if they provided a face mask and sleep wear. The reason I’d suggest this is because another competitor hotel of theirs provided very considerate toiletries for the ladies and I think that was a HUGE plus for me considering we spent a lot of money for one night. Anyways, overall villa 32 is great if you just want to spend a few hours to relax.

Excellent location with two parks nearby. There's a bus stop right downstairs, and plenty of restaurants in the surrounding streets, making the area very well-equipped for daily needs.

Overall service was acceptable. Breakfast options weren't extensive, but all basic categories were covered.
III. Room Facilities
1. The bedding was comfortable, but the bed size was a bit small, approximately 1 meter wide.
2. The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. The bathtub was spacious and featured a thoughtful sunken design.
3. The toiletries were of good quality, with Cha Tzu Tang products provided, which had a natural, pleasant scent.
4. The room had central air conditioning. Although there was a wall-mounted remote, the temperature was fixed at 19 degrees Celsius and could not be changed.
