If you haven’t been to Penang, bro... what are you doing with your life? This little island (and its mainland twin, Seberang Perai) is literally one of the best places to makan, lepak, and explore in Malaysia. Whether you’re a foodie, a history nerd, or just someone looking for a chill weekend getaway, Penang has something for everyone.

Imagine this: Waking up to the smell of freshly fried Char Kuey Teow, spending your day wandering through heritage streets covered in street art, and ending the night with a sunset by the beach while munching on some Lok Lok. Sounds like a dream? Well, in Penang, this is just an average Tuesday.

Why Penang?

Best Food in Malaysia (Don’t @ me) 🍜 – If you can’t decide between Penang Laksa or Nasi Kandar, the answer is both.

Rich Heritage & Culture 🏛️ – Where else can you find colonial mansions, Chinese clan houses, and temples all within walking distance?

Affordable & Easy to Explore 💰 – A full meal can still cost under RM10 (if you know where to go), and walking around George Town feels like stepping back in time.

Beautiful Nature & Adventure 🌿 – Hike up Penang Hill, chill at Monkey Beach, or zipline through the rainforest at ESCAPE.

So, whether you're coming for a food-hunting trip, a history lesson, or just to jalan-jalan, Penang will always welcome you with open arms and a plate of something sedap.

Foodie Heaven – What to Eat in Penang 🍜

Alright, let’s get to the real reason most Malaysians visit Penang: THE FOOD. If you leave this island hungry, you’re doing it wrong. Penang’s food scene is legendary, and if you don’t believe me, just look at the number of cars with KL and Johor plates parked at famous makan spots every weekend.

Here’s a cheat sheet of must-try Penang dishes and where to get them. Save this so you don’t waste time Googling!

1. Penang Char Kuey Teow (CKT) 🔥

Delicious famous Penang char kuay teow

The GOAT of noodle dishes. Flat rice noodles stir-fried over high heat with prawns, Chinese sausage, eggs, and cockles, all infused with that legendary wok hei (smoky wok flavor).
📍 Where to Try:

Tiger Char Kuey Teow (Ping Hooi Cafe, George Town) – Smoky, slightly wetter style.

Siam Road Char Kuey Teow – Long queue, but worth it.

Lorong Selamat Char Kuey Teow – Infamous aunty with the red beret, but the prawns are huge.

👉 Pro Tip: If the cook isn’t sweating and flipping the wok like a mad scientist, the CKT won’t be shiok.

2. Penang Asam Laksa 🍜

Delicious famous Penang asam laksa

A tangy, spicy, and umami-packed noodle soup made with flaked mackerel, tamarind broth, mint leaves, and a dollop of prawn paste (hae ko).
📍 Where to Try:

Air Itam Asam Laksa – The most famous, right near Kek Lok Si.

Penang Road Famous Laksa – Slightly milder but still power.

Pasar Air Itam Laksa – Extra thick broth.

👉 Pro Tip: If your laksa doesn’t make you sweat and sniffle a bit, it’s not legit.

3. Nasi Kandar 🍛

Delicious famous Penang Nasi Kandar

Imagine a mountain of fragrant white rice drenched in different curry gravies (also called ‘banjir’ style). You can mix and match ayam goreng, beef rendang, sotong, telur ikan, and more.
📍 Where to Try:

Hameediyah (Est. 1907) – One of the oldest and still one of the best.

Nasi Kandar Line Clear – Open 24 hours, makan like a true Penangite.

Deen Maju – Long queues, but the ayam goreng is next level.

👉 Pro Tip: Ask for "kuah campur banjir" (mixed curry flood) for the ultimate experience.

4. Penang Rojak 🍏

Delicious famous Penang Rojak Buah

A unique fruit and vegetable salad drenched in thick, dark prawn paste and topped with crushed peanuts. Sweet, salty, tangy, crunchy – it’s a party in your mouth.
📍 Where to Try:

Hock Seng Rojak (Gurney Drive) – Iconic, been around forever.

Padang Brown Rojak – Lesser known, but equally sedap.

👉 Pro Tip: If the sauce doesn’t stick to your teeth, it’s not real Penang rojak.

5. Pasembur 🦑

Delicious famous Penang Pasembor

Think of this as the Indian-Muslim cousin of rojak – a plate of crispy prawn fritters, squid, tofu, and cucumbers drenched in a slightly spicy, nutty-sweet sauce.
📍 Where to Try:

Gurney Drive Pasembur – The OG.

Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade Food Court) – Great seaside vibes.

👉 Pro Tip: Order extra prawn fritters if you want that extra crunch!

6. Apom Manis 🍯

Delicious famous Penang apam balik

A thin, crispy-edged pancake with a soft, fluffy center, often with banana or sweet corn inside. Perfect for dessert or a light snack.
📍 Where to Try:

Apom Guan (Burmah Road) – Uncle Guan has been making these for over 40 years!

Penang Road Apom Manis – A classic roadside stall experience.

👉 Pro Tip: Eat it hot. The crispy edges won’t be the same if you tapau for later.

Heritage & Culture – A Walk Through Time 🏛️

Penang isn’t just about food (though let’s be real, that’s 90% of the reason we come). It’s also one of the most historically rich places in Malaysia, with heritage buildings, vibrant street art, and hidden cultural gems waiting to be explored. Walking around George Town feels like traveling through time—one moment you’re admiring British colonial architecture, the next you’re stepping into a century-old Chinese clan house or a bustling Little India filled with the aroma of spices.

If you love history, old-school vibes, or just want Instagrammable spots that make you look cultured, here are some must-visit places:

1. George Town Street Art 🎨

the famous street painting in penang of a little girl and her brother riding a bicycle

Walking around George Town is like being in a giant open-air museum. The street art here is world-famous, with murals that mix history, humor, and daily Malaysian life. Some of them even interact with real objects—like a kid reaching for an actual bicycle.

📍 Where to Find It:

Lebuh Armenian – The most iconic artworks (e.g., "Little Children on a Bicycle").

Lebuh Ah Quee – The famous “Boy on a Motorbike.”

Gat Lebuh Chulia – The cute cat murals!

👉 Pro Tip: Rent a bicycle (RM10-20 per day) or use the LinkBike app to cycle around easily. Walking is fun, but Penang sun? 🥵 No joke.

2. Pinang Peranakan Mansion 🏡

the interior of penang peranakan house

If you’ve ever watched The Little Nyonya (or if your mom forced you to watch it), you know how beautiful Peranakan culture is. This mansion gives you a glimpse into the lives of rich Baba-Nyonya families, complete with intricate antique furniture, gold decorations, and beautifully carved wooden doors.

📍 Where: 29 Church Street, George Town
💰 Entrance Fee: RM25
Opening Hours: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM

👉 Fun Fact: This house was actually used as a filming location for TV dramas. So yes, you can pretend you're in a period drama here.

3. Khoo Kongsi Clan House 🏯

the front of the Khoo Kongsi Clan house

The Khoo family must have been seriously loaded because this is one of the most stunning clan houses in Malaysia. It’s a grand Chinese temple and ancestral hall, complete with dragon carvings, detailed murals, and a hidden underground chamber (for secret meetings back in the day).

📍 Where: Cannon Square, George Town
💰 Entrance Fee: RM20
Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

👉 Pro Tip: Visit at night during Chinese New Year – the lanterns and performances make the whole place magical.

4. Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (The Blue Mansion) 💙

The front of Cheong Fatt Tze house

This is one of the most famous heritage buildings in Penang, known for its vibrant blue walls and unique mix of Eastern and Western architecture. It was built by Cheong Fatt Tze, a Chinese tycoon who basically lived like a king. Now, it’s a boutique hotel where you can stay if you want that old-money experience.

📍 Where: 14 Leith Street, George Town
💰 Entrance Fee: RM25 (guided tour)
Opening Hours: 11:00 AM & 2:00 PM (Tours only)

👉 Pro Tip: If you don’t want to pay for the tour, just book a night here! Then you can take all the aesthetic photos you want.

5. Kek Lok Si Temple 🏯

Kek Lok Si temple lit up in the night

One of the largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia, Kek Lok Si is a must-visit. It has a giant bronze statue of Kuan Yin (the Goddess of Mercy), a beautiful pagoda, and hundreds of Buddha statues. The temple is on a hill, so you also get a pretty epic view of Penang from up here.

📍 Where: Air Itam
💰 Entrance Fee: Free (but RM6 for the pagoda and RM3 for the incline lift)
Opening Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

👉 Best Time to Visit: At night during Chinese New Year—the whole temple lights up beautifully.

6. Fort Cornwallis 🏰

Outside of Fort Cornwallis

If you want to flex your history knowledge, this is the place. This 18th-century fort was built by the British East India Company to defend against pirates (yes, actual pirates). It still has original cannons, thick stone walls, and a moat.

📍 Where: Padang Kota Lama
💰 Entrance Fee: RM10
Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM

👉 Pro Tip: Come in the late afternoon to avoid the heat, and then walk over to Esplanade for a relaxing evening by the sea.

Quick Heritage & Culture Guide 🏛️

Place Why Visit? Tips
George Town Street Art Famous murals, interactive art, best IG spots Rent a bike for easy exploring

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! The room was incredibly spacious and well-designed, and having a kitchen made our stay even more comfortable. The view from our room was absolutely stunning, we especially loved watching the sunset from our window on our last evening. It was such a beautiful and memorable moment. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and both check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free. The location is another huge plus. It's right in front of Gurney Bay and close to everything, making it very convenient to explore the area. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Facilities: The facilities and equipment are quite old-fashioned, like the door handles, faucets, and switches, but they all work perfectly and have a great sense of history. Cleanliness: The hygiene was excellent. Housekeeping even came in the mornings to offer fresh towels and drinking water. Environment: The environment is beyond words. I think it's the best and quietest area in George Town, right by the sea. The sunrises and sunsets were incredibly relaxing. Service: As soon as the taxi pulled up to the hotel, a doorman was there to greet us, help with luggage, and check us in. The front desk staff spoke multiple languages, making check-in very smooth. Our luggage was quickly brought to our room by a doorman. The F&B staff were all very warm and attentive. This time, I stayed in the Deluxe Heritage Wing Suite, which was incredibly comfortable. Highly recommend!

The breakfast offers local specialties. While the selection isn't huge, the food is delicious, with both buffet and à la carte options. The bathroom is sealed off and the door is quite heavy, so you need to push or pull it firmly to open and close it. The room itself is very comfortable, with a street view, and it's surprisingly quiet. It's also within walking distance to the Clan Jetties and the street art area.

This is one of the best places I have stayed in SE Asia! The shophouses are cute and spacious (we stayed in Indian Shophouse and our parents stayed in another king’s size bedroom), the aesthetics inside the room and especially in the lobby/ afternoon tea area/ breakfast cafe is incredible and nostalgic. Great services from the staff and so friendly that you feel you are being taken good care of. Also got the cutest cats too! The location is unbeatable - we can walk to everywhere in Georgetown and to the Esplanade with ease. Highly recommended for travelers to stay here!

Strictly speaking, it's just a villa converted into a hotel. Although it boasts over 100 years of history, century-old buildings are common throughout the city. The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. Compared to other hotels I've recently stayed at, like Dongjia and George Hotel, this one is flanked by residential buildings on both sides, and there are plans to build more behind it. It feels like it's being surrounded by tall buildings, which really takes away from the experience. Furthermore, the windows aren't very soundproof, and it's really close to the road, making it quite noisy during the day. It truly bears no resemblance to a manor. There were also a lot of mosquitoes; we didn't even open the windows, yet somehow had four or five mosquitoes in the room overnight. The room decor is decent, but honestly, many hotels in China can achieve this level of design. Also, this hotel doesn't have a gym. During check-in, the manager (I couldn't tell if they were Indian or Malaysian) had a very strong accent, and I really struggled to understand every word they said. The bar also offered two complimentary drinks in the evening, but they were very simple and tasted mediocre. If you're going to offer free drinks, do it properly, or don't offer them at all. The room's mini-bar was okay, and the complimentary snacks made the kids happy. The toiletries were Bvlgari. Breakfast was served in the hotel's ground-floor restaurant, which supposedly has been recognized by Michelin for two consecutive years. However, the breakfast was quite perfunctory. The apples and melon served were completely unsweetened and very stale; they clearly looked pre-cut, frozen for a long time, discolored, and had a terrible texture. When I ordered English breakfast tea, I wasn't asked if I wanted milk. The pepper in the pepper shaker wouldn't come out because the grains were too large. A salmon bagel was decent. Overall, the breakfast portions were average, and the taste was just so-so. After checking out, we immediately went to another restaurant to eat again. All in all, this hotel's price was not cheap compared to other hotels on this trip, but the overall experience was just average. Of course, there were some positives, such as every staff member being very enthusiastic. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, which I really appreciate.

New from Ascot group. Took over a UNESO Heritage building where I guess the structure can't be demolished or hack which makes the rooms small. For the price I pay for the garden patio, it is not worth the price. There are many properties surrounding that matches this price. For example G Hotel Kelawi or Prestige Hotel. Location is good no doubt but wanted to emphasise on the car park that is located left side of the building which no access to the rooms directly where you need to walk back out to the lobby to enter your rooms. Lobby main door entrance doesn't have any luggage friendly ramp to push up to the lobby. Something the property needs to consider as well as for wheel chair. Also, I had 2 crickets visiting my room when I was showering. LOL. Overall, the property is new, nice deco and good location. Just few suggestions above for the property to take into consideration.

My son and nephew stayed in the Premier Twin Room, and their feedback honestly left me flabbergasted. For boys whose vocabulary on things like hotels and hospitality is usually quite limited, they simply could not stop yapping about how much they loved the room! According to them, the room was huge, comfortable, and incredibly cosy. Their absolute favourite part? The complimentary mini bar items — that definitely earned extra points! They also could not stop talking about how amazing the shower was. A special mention must also go to the housekeeping team. Hats off to the housekeeping lad who somehow managed to clean and organise the room so well despite the unbelievable amount of clutter the boys created within such a short time frame. Truly impressive and very much appreciated. The boys also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast spread and kept mentioning the warmth and hospitality showered upon them throughout their stay. Thank you once again to the entire team at Sunway Hotel Penang for making their stay such a memorable one. It is experiences like these that keep us coming back.

The hotel facilities were decent, and the room was spacious and clean, making for a very comfortable stay overall. Most importantly, the hotel's location is fantastic! Many attractions in George Town are within walking distance, which is incredibly convenient. There are also plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around the hotel. There's a durian stall called 'Seng Huat' very close by, which I highly recommend! They have a great variety of durians, the owner offers excellent service, and there's no need to queue. The hotel breakfast was quite ample. The gym on the fourth floor is large and well-equipped, and the pool is also sizable. The only downside was the somewhat cold attitude of the Malay staff. When I went back to the concierge to retrieve something from my stored luggage, they were very impatient. Similarly, during breakfast registration, the Malay staff member was brusque and stern-faced. It makes me wonder, are Malay people truly unfriendly towards Chinese people? In contrast, the Indian and Chinese staff at the front desk for check-in, as well as the Indian housekeeping staff, were very warm and proactive.

For solo travelers like me, this place is incredibly convenient because of its excellent transportation links. All the main attractions – whether it's the beach, historic houses, restaurants, or various downtown spots – are within walking distance. I stayed here for a week and didn't need a single taxi. In the evenings, I could just stroll out to a bar or find some great food. I even made quite a few friends! The hotel's restaurant is also very good. Overall, the value for money here is exceptional.

It's clear this hotel was once a grand establishment, but it's lost its former glory, as the renovation probably dates back to the 90s. The doormen at the entrance were a pleasant surprise; since there's quite a steep staircase leading into the hotel, someone to help is super helpful (they helped me carry my suitcase up and then down when I checked out). I had a room on the 17th floor with two single beds. If you're tall, your feet might hang off the beds; I'm 163 cm and even I felt they were a bit short. The room is cleaned daily – even though I didn't use the toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, lotion, toothbrushes), they conscientiously replenished them every time after cleaning. They provide two bottles of water per day, but I didn't see a water cooler. There's a hairdryer, fridge, safe, and wardrobe. The pool on the 8th floor seemed a bit small to me, but you can still swim. Towels are provided there, and next to it, there's even a small gym with a treadmill. The buffet-style cafe on the 1st floor doesn't have any meat, but there are fruits, lots of local pasta dishes, pastries, juices, coffee, and tea – you definitely won't go hungry if you order breakfast. And the location is excellent – very close to key malls. I definitely recommend it.

The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (also known as The Blue Mansion) boasts an excellent location in George Town's historic district. Right across the street are the Clan Jetties, and there are countless historical buildings nearby, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. What truly stands out is the hotel staff; they are exceptionally polite and attentive. The hotel itself is an old heritage building, so the facilities are a little dated, but they are very well-maintained. Everything of this hotel is all good, the location, the environment. In the radius of one kilometer you can get anything all kind of food either morning or at night, convenient store, the shopping mall, souvenir shop. There is only one thing that I have problem with. The double bed that I have is a little bit of shaky and making sound every time I flip my body .. you know especially at night, it makes things uncomfortable. The hotel should have to do something about this. Over all things are excellent, I recommend this hotel and would come back again.

I had a very pleasant stay at Loop on Leith Hotel in Georgetown. The service was consistently excellent, with staff demonstrating professionalism, attentiveness, and a welcoming attitude throughout my visit. The breakfast selection, while not overly extensive, was well-prepared and sufficient to start the day comfortably. The hotel’s location is a major advantage, situated conveniently within walking distance of key attractions, dining spots, and heritage sites in Georgetown. The hotel's location is really convenient. Hongyuan offers plenty of dining options and live performances, which are quite good. Even though it's a food street, the hygiene is perfectly fine. A few days ago, I even saw a spectacular fireworks show right from my room. It's also very close to Zhangyuan, and nearby Hongmao Road used to be the first affluent street. The only downside was one night around 11:00 PM, I could hear someone singing, but the soundproofing was decent enough that it wasn't a major issue.

We stayed two nights at Summer Tree Hotel Penang during our trip to Penang. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was its location — right in the heart of Georgetown near Komtar, which makes it very convenient for getting around. It also offers parking, which is a big plus in this area. Another reason was the late check-in option, as I was having dinner with a friend in Nibong Tebal, which is quite a distance away. The pricing was also reasonable, making it an attractive choice overall. Upon arrival, however, parking was already full. I had to park at a space right in front of the hotel where delivery trucks usually arrive in the morning. This made me slightly anxious, as I was worried I might be asked to move my car early the next day. The lobby is simple but modern, with a creative, slightly hipster and artistic vibe — almost like a small modern art space. There are vending machines offering snacks, drinks, and essentials for travelers. At the back, there are toilets and also a laundry area with washing machines. A small coffee corner and even an old-school arcade game machine add a nice nostalgic touch, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the room itself was quite disappointing. While the room is basic and small — which I don’t mind — the flooring under the carpet felt severely damaged. Walking on it felt uneven and almost “soft,” as if the ground beneath had deteriorated. It gave a very uncomfortable and unsettling feeling, possibly due to moisture or termite damage underneath. Another concern was the bathroom design. There is an elevated step at the entrance, which becomes a clear trip hazard. I actually tripped once when entering. Even after that, I had to be very cautious because the floor just outside the bathroom is extremely slippery. Every entry and exit required full attention. There is also no proper shelf or platform inside the shower area to place shampoo or shower gel. We had to repeatedly open and close the glass door just to access toiletries during showering, which was inconvenient. Only basic amenities like shower gel and liquid hand soap were provided. The room was also advertised with a decent view, but the window was covered with a mesh, and since we were on the first floor, there was very little to see. On the positive side, the water dispenser outside the room was very convenient. The next day, parking was still full, so we had to park at a private area nearby. Since it was raining, the walk back to the hotel was quite inconvenient as well. Overall, while the location and concept of the hotel are strong, the room condition and safety design issues need serious attention. I would strongly recommend replacing the carpet flooring with vinyl wood flooring for durability and hygiene. As for the bathroom layout, improvements may be limited due to structure, but safety enhancements like anti-slip flooring would make a big difference.

This loft in the city center is relatively decent. It's perfectly located for all the attractions. The airport bus stop is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. There are two large shopping malls nearby. A big thank you to the staff for letting us check in early. The bed linen was soft and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Shampoo and shower gel were provided for free. There's a water cooler (hot/cold) on the floor. The fridge worked great, and there was also a kettle and toaster in the room. As for the downsides: The cleanliness of the room was so-so – dusty, with a somewhat worn-out renovation, and some noticeable dirt stains in places. The shower only had lukewarm water. There were no face towels. One of the bath towels had a stain. There were ants running around near the fridge, seemingly knowing where the food was, so make sure to put all your food straight into the fridge. I left a biscuit on the table and ants swarmed it. There are no double-glazed windows, and since our room faced the street, we could hear passing cars perfectly. It's tolerable for a night or two, but not for any longer.

Hidden Gems – The “Aiyoh, You Sure You Never Been Here?” Spots 🧐

Penang’s got its famous spots, but real pros know the best places are the hidden gems. You know, the ones that don’t show up in every tourist guide but make you feel like you’ve uncovered a secret. Whether it’s a hidden café, a quiet beach, or an eerie abandoned site, these places are 100% worth visiting (and flexing about to your friends).

1. Suffolk House – The "Downton Abbey" of Penang 🏡

The interior of a restaurant

If you want to sip tea like British royalty, this 18th-century colonial mansion is where you do it. Built by Captain Francis Light (Penang’s founder), Suffolk House is one of the few remaining Anglo-Indian style bungalows in Malaysia. It’s so fancy that it’s been used for film shoots and even hosted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

📍 Where: Air Itam
💰 Entrance Fee: RM20 (tour included)
Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

👉 Pro Tip: Book high tea here (RM65 per pax) and enjoy scones, sandwiches, and cakes like you’re in England.

2. Penang War Museum – Malaysia’s Most Haunted Spot? 👻

Penang Memorial museum entrance

Love ghost stories? This WWII-era British fortress turned museum is known for being one of the creepiest places in Asia. Back in the day, Japanese soldiers occupied this place, and let’s just say some dark things went down here. The underground tunnels, prison cells, and execution chambers still remain. Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, the historical value is insane.

📍 Where: Batu Maung
💰 Entrance Fee: RM20
Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

👉 Pro Tip: Come for the night tour (if you dare). Rumor has it some people never finish the tour... 👀

3. The Floating Mosque – Serenity on the Sea 🕌

Penang floating mosque

Ever seen a mosque floating on water? The Masjid Terapung is a stunning sight, especially at sunset when the sky turns golden and reflects beautifully on the sea. It’s not actually floating (there are stilts under it), but it sure looks like it.

📍 Where: Tanjung Bungah
💰 Entrance Fee: Free
Best Time to Visit: Sunset 🌅

👉 Pro Tip: Non-Muslims can visit outside prayer times, but dress modestly.

4. Penang Hill’s Secret Canopy Walk – No Crowds, Just Nature 🌳

The canopy walk in Penang Hill

Most people go to Penang Hill and just hang around at the main viewing deck. But if you walk a little further, you’ll find an amazing hidden canopy walk in the jungle. It’s completely FREE, with zero crowds and peaceful vibes.

📍 Where: 15-minute walk from The Habitat, Penang Hill
💰 Entrance Fee: Free
Best Time to Visit: Morning (before it gets hot)

👉 Pro Tip: Bring a small picnic and chill here with a view of the jungle.

5. Batu Ferringhi’s Hidden "Secret Beach" 🏝️

Sandy beaches with lots of trees for shade

Batu Ferringhi is famous, but did you know there’s a secret beach just 10 minutes away? It’s called Pantai Pasir Panjang, and unlike the main beaches, this one is peaceful, clean, and usually empty. It feels like your own private island.

📍 Where: Near Tropical Spice Garden (follow the jungle path)
💰 Entrance Fee: Free
Best Time to Visit: Morning or late afternoon

👉 Pro Tip: Pack some drinks and snacks—there are zero stalls here, just pure nature.

6. Penang’s “Abandoned” Jetty – Instagram Gold 📸

One of the most famous "abandoned" jettys in Penang

This rustic, broken-down jetty is one of the best hidden photography spots in Penang. The old wooden planks, the endless sea view, and the peaceful vibes make this a must-visit for photographers and content creators. It’s like a movie scene from an old fishing village.

📍 Where: Near Pantai Jerejak, Bayan Lepas
💰 Entrance Fee: Free
Best Time to Visit: Golden hour (5:30 PM – 7:00 PM)

👉 Pro Tip: Be careful when walking on the old planks—some are a bit wobbly.

If you’ve read this far and still haven’t packed your bags, I don’t know what to say lah. Penang isn’t just a travel destination—it’s a whole experience. It’s the kind of place where you can eat until your jeans feel tight, learn something new about Malaysia’s history, hike up a hill and pretend to be fit, then chill by the beach with a coconut in hand—all in a single day.

Best food in Malaysia? Confirmed.
