What is the best way to travel from Sydney to Brisbane?

The best way to travel from Sydney to Brisbane depends entirely on your schedule. Flying from Sydney Airport (SYD) to Brisbane Airport (BNE) is the fastest, taking just 90 minutes. For budget travelers, the NSW TrainLink XPT offers a scenic 14-hour journey starting around $70 AUD (RM200).

Flights: The Fastest Interstate Commute

Averaging over 100 flights a day, the Sydney to Brisbane air corridor is exceptionally well-serviced. Carriers like Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar operate direct flights out of Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD). Your wheels will hit the tarmac at Brisbane Airport (BNE) in approximately 90 minutes.

Expect to pay between $120 and $250 AUD (RM342 - RM712) for a one-way ticket, depending on the season and how early you book. Jetstar frequently drops flash sale fares closer to $60 AUD (RM171) for mid-week travel.

Pro-Tip: Skip the expensive airport taxi line in Brisbane. Instead, tap your credit card at the BNE Airtrain turnstile. A 20-minute ride costs roughly $20 AUD (RM57) and drops you directly at Central Station in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. Book cheap flights from Sydney to Brisbane to secure the best departure times.

The NSW TrainLink XPT: Slow Travel and Coastal Views

If you prefer ground transport, the NSW TrainLink XPT is a reliable, highly comfortable alternative. The train departs from Sydney Central Station twice daily, rolling through the lush New South Wales countryside before terminating at Brisbane’s Roma Street Station.

The journey takes exactly 14 hours and 6 minutes. An economy seat costs around $70 AUD (RM200), while upgrading to a first-class sleeper cabin pushes the fare closer to $250 AUD (RM712). The sleeper cabins include fresh linen and fold-down bunks, making the overnight transit highly practical.

Pro-Tip: Bring your own snacks and a reusable water bottle. While the XPT has a buffet car, fresh food options run out quickly on this long-haul regional route.

Long-Distance Bus: The Backpacker Staple

Greyhound Australia runs daily services between Sydney and Brisbane. The trip takes roughly 13 to 14 hours, with buses departing from the bays outside Sydney Central Station and arriving at the Brisbane Transit Centre.

Tickets range from $110 to $140 AUD (RM313 - RM399). These modern coaches come equipped with panoramic windows, reclining leather seats, onboard Wi-Fi, and USB charging ports. It is an excellent choice for last-minute travelers when flights are booked out or surging in price.

How long is the Sydney to Brisbane drive along the coast?

The Sydney to Brisbane drive spans approximately 900 kilometers along the Pacific Highway (M1). While the non-stop drive takes about 10 hours, travelers should allocate three to five days to safely explore coastal highlights like Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, and the Gold Coast before reaching Brisbane.

Planning Your Pacific Highway Itinerary

Hitting the road transforms a standard commute into one of Australia's premier road trips. The M1 motorway is fully sealed, dual-carriageway, and heavily populated with service stations, making it an incredibly smooth drive for standard rental cars and campervans alike.

To avoid driver fatigue, break the journey up. Stop in Port Macquarie to visit the local Koala Hospital, or spend a night in Byron Bay for surf culture and spectacular lighthouse sunrise views. As you cross the Queensland border, the Gold Coast offers a perfect final pitstop before the last 80-kilometer sprint into Brisbane. Fuel costs for a standard sedan will total approximately $150 AUD (RM427) one-way.

This hotel has been recently renovated, so it's very new. Although the rooms aren't large, they are well-equipped, and I'm satisfied with the facilities. The hotel's location isn't far from City Hall, Queen Street, and South Bank; you can walk there easily. Choosing different routes allows you to pass by various attractions like Anzac Square and different churches. I don't think the location is remote at all. The hotel's main entrance is on a slope, and honestly, whether driving or walking, that area can be a bit confusing. If you're calling a taxi, I recommend setting the location to the hotel's back entrance (there's no actual door, it's where the breakfast restaurant is, keyword: Two Donkeys), as the road is much easier to navigate there. As for the hotel breakfast, well, it's filling, but it feels like Western breakfast prepared by an Asian chef, so it's not very authentic. Overall, it offers good value for money, and I still recommend it.

My Worst Experience at a W Hotel to Date I have stayed at various W properties, but my recent one-night stay at W Brisbane was easily my most disappointing experience with the brand. For a hotel that prides itself on design and luxury, the functional execution of the room was severely lacking. There were several significant issues that made for a very uncomfortable night: Poor Room Design: The air conditioning is positioned in a way that it blew directly onto my face all night. It was impossible to deflect, and I had to sleep on the other end of the bed. Then I had another issue below. Disruptive Noise: The in-room refrigerator was close the the bed and making distracting noises throughout the night that made it difficult to sleep. Between the mechanical noise and the poorly placed AC, I barely got any rest. Maintenance & Cleanliness: after I woke up in the morning, I was shocked to find a visible hole in the bed sheets. This is not the level of quality control one expects from a five-star establishment. And the bath tub has visible torn and wears. Also the motel level toothbrush. Service: there was no staff at the door helped me and my 70 yo mom with our luggages. I hvae to acknowledge that we arrived quite late but I did expect quality service from a lux hotel. And also no free upgrade offered like my stays with other W. Honestly, I am just glad my stay was only for one night. I expected much better from the W brand and won't be rushing back to this particular location.

Excellent location, super convenient for dining and shopping. The hotel is a bit old but still quite clean, especially the bedding. I stayed for many days. If you need a change of bedding, you have to tell the housekeeping staff directly or leave a note. Otherwise, they'll likely just re-make the bed without changing the sheets. Milk is free; if you don't receive it, the most reliable way is to tell the housekeeping staff or leave a note. Also, every morning from 7:30 to around 8:00 AM, the lobby offers a free plate of bread and fruit, which is a nice touch for early risers. Overall, it's very good, and I'd likely stay here again.

The environment is excellent. Hyatt Regency Brisbane boasts an unbeatable location right on Queen Street Mall. The rooms are modern, minimalist, and spotlessly clean, and the rooftop pool bar has an incredible atmosphere, making it the perfect spot in the city to catch the sunset. The service is professional and efficient. It's a highly cost-effective choice, whether you're traveling for business or leisure.

Every aspect of this stay from check-in to Check -out was fantastic. We would highly recommend this hotel for its location to explore beautiful Brisbane.

Great location was great but the hotel is looking very old. Had to wait about 10 minutes to get serviced. Only 1 person on front desk. No valet parking or assistance with luggage. No clear signs for lift. Once out of lift to find room which direct was so small I missed it. Bathroom was huge with a lovely bath. Only problem is the toilet is in bathroom so if someone is using the toilet you can't use bathroom. No robes available and rooms were cleaned after lunch so after being out all day coming back to hotel beds not made or towels replaced. I know these are little things but we paid top dollar to stay there so expect 5 star quality. Will not stay there again. Much better modern offers out there.

When staying at a hostel, I usually worry about noise from other guests, such as snoring or general roommate noise. However, at this hostel, the biggest issue was not the roommates but the building itself. The soundproofing is extremely poor, so railway noise and conversations from people in the lobby can be heard clearly inside the rooms. In fact, I found the noise from other rooms to be less noticeable than the noise coming from outside the room. If you are assigned a room, I strongly recommend avoiding rooms 323 and 317. People talking and making noise as they enter and leave the area can be particularly disruptive, especially at night. 침대 콘센트는 사진과 같으

First of all, I'd like to thank Trip.com for their proactive follow-up and feedback. This hotel really isn't suitable; the actual room condition is poor and too old, not matching the photos online. We waited almost twenty minutes to check in because the front desk staff kept chatting with a guest. That guest was also strange, as their card had insufficient funds and the hotel doesn't accept cash, so they just kept talking... After we checked in, we found that the living room and two of our rooms were right next to a building under construction, really close by. Then, on the other side, they were digging a foundation. We requested a room change. The new room was at least not next to a construction site, but the foundation digging started before 7 AM every morning. Let's talk about parking next. You won't figure it out without spending some time on it. No matter how much the front desk explains, you won't get it right the first time. The cost is also expensive at $45 a day. You first drive into the adjacent Apollo parking lot, go down to levels 5-8, and find their hotel's marked parking spots. Many of them are occupied, and you can't just park anywhere, or you'll get towed. Once you find a spot, you take one elevator, go down to P8, then get out and take another guest elevator to your floor. Every time you want to get your car, it involves two elevators and a maze-like search for your vehicle. Anyway, it's not easy. Finally, when we booked the room, we mentioned we had a child and needed a quiet room. They received the information, but still gave us such a noisy room, which I don't quite understand. After we checked in... we found there was no internet. The hotel staff said the service provider was doing maintenance and didn't know when it would be fixed. Luckily, it was working the next day.

The location was excellent and made it very easy to explore Brisbane, with convenient access to the CBD, South Bank, dining options, and public transport. The rooms have good views of the city. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, but what stood out most was the service from their team. The receptionist especially was friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated the assistance with storing our luggage and providing umbrellas during the rainy weather. The hotel's location is great, making it easy to explore the city center! However, the cleanliness needs improvement. There were hairs on the toilet and short hairs on the bedsheets, indicating that the cleaning wasn't thorough enough. The highlight of our stay was definitely the front desk staff. They were so welcoming and friendly, and they even allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated. The luggage storage service was also very helpful and convenient. The location is excellent, making it incredibly easy to get around the city. However, the room itself could use some improvement. The cleaning wasn't up to standard as there was quite a lot of dust in the room. Also, the water pressure in the bathroom sink was very weak. Overall, it is a convenient place to stay with fantastic service, but they really need to improve their room maintenance and cleanliness.

The hotel is currently undergoing renovations; the restaurant is closed and there's construction. Our room, however, had been refurbished. They tried to make it 'smoke-free' by spraying some kind of citronella, but the smell only went away after two hours with the window open. The elevator didn't quite reach our floor, and after we reported it, they declared it 'out of order.' The bathroom facilities were fine, and we did sleep well. Nearly every hotel here is called 'Airport,' so we went to the wrong one first. It's also further from the airport than we expected, costing 20 AUD for a taxi. So, at the moment, it's not really recommended, but the price was good.

This hostel has a great location, but I had a truly disappointing experience. What happened was that groceries I had bought were thrown away. They usually store items in the fridge on the first floor before discarding them, but when I asked at the reception, the staff member acted annoyed, saying they didn't know anything, and didn't apologize at all for throwing away my food without permission. Additionally, there's no freezer, so if you're planning to stay here next time, it might be good to keep in mind that you can't store frozen food, your groceries might be thrown away without your permission, and you might not receive an apology. Furthermore, the toilets at this hostel were clearly not cleaned and smelled terrible from the start. I also had an experience where the curtain on my own bed was opened without my permission, which was not a good experience. If you're paying the same amount to stay in the city, you might be more satisfied elsewhere. Of course, not everyone will have the same experience; there are friendly and polite reception staff members. However, my experience is also a fact.

The name on the exterior wall of the hotel doesn't match the name on the main entrance. The room layout was like a labyrinth, making me a little dizzy trying to navigate it. The hotel is located next to Brisbane City Hall, just 600 meters from Central Station, an easy walk even with luggage. It's surrounded by markets and restaurants. I successfully found a Chinese restaurant for rice noodles thanks to the directions given by the front desk staff, which I really appreciated. The room was small, and the cleanliness was just okay. The bathroom had plenty of hot water, but the hotel had a strong odor and poor air circulation. The soundproofing in the room wasn't great. There were paid snacks in the fridge and on the counter. Slippers and toothbrushes were not provided. The main highlight is the excellent location. The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite the botanical gardens, and just three streets away from the city center. However, the room decor is quite old-fashioned. The hot and cold water taps are separate, making it very tricky to adjust the water temperature in the shower. The toilet flush is on the wall behind you, so you have to reach back after standing up to press it. Dining at the restaurant was a nightmare. After placing our order, they said they needed to change the gas and it would take 20 minutes. About 10 minutes later, a strong smell of gas filled the air... This hotel was average in pretty much every sense. It was ”fine” in that it had two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room. The layout was not very functional, the toilet was pretty much in the middle of the bathroom, the power points were hidden behind the middle of the double bed there were three chairs for four people. Staff were helpful but the television didn't always connect and there wasn't enough dishwashing supplies, bin bags or toilet paper for our stay, which all involved trips to reception. The location was great. The beds good. We had a great few from the balcony onto the river. The apartment is dated, this is visible in the bathroom and the carpet should be replaced. The curtains had stains and I wasn’t sure, if they were dirty or grey. The chairs also show their age. During our stay one elevator was under maintenance, which made the waiting time for the free elevator quite long. There is parking for $39 per night inside the complex. Unfortunately the complex does not offer flat rates for weekend or public holidays. So one might be better off to park in one of the many car parks near by for as low as $9 (online) a day on the weekend.

The apartment-style rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, microwave, oven, pots and pans, and cutlery. Everything is spotless, and there are also washing and drying facilities. The most thoughtful thing is that while the room was supposed to be cleaned once a week when I booked, it was actually cleaned daily. They assisted us by storing our things before check in so we can roam freely and sent us a message when our room is finally ready for check in. They gave clear instructions as to what to do after office hours.

Good location, friendly excellent staff, rooms were in excellent condition, great air conditioning, I didn't use the food menu. 1 lift was out of action unfortunately, so had to wait a few minutes each use. Other than the lift excellent.

Fantastic location in the city. The room was enormous and really comfortable. Very close to Central Station which was useful for us. We would definitely stay here again when we have a stopover in Brisbane.

The room was great, clean, service excellent, they let is check in early (2 hours) and check out late (1 hour) at no extra cost. Love the layout of the room, very well thought out and balcony view was amazing.

Because I stayed on a very high floor, I had a fantastic night view. The bathroom was very clean, and there were many TV channels to watch. If I have the chance, I'll definitely book again.

Check in was good with a very friendly and informative front desk Concierge. Our room was tidy and neat but it did not have a view of the Story Bridge as stated in our booking. So we went down to the front desk who quickly upgraded our booking to the next floor up with a bigger room and the most fantastic view of the Story Bridge from the lounge and bedroom. The hotel is situated walking distance to the Botanical Gardens, Southbank and City. We had breakfast supplied in our booking but the restaurant was only for take away so we had a voucher to spend on coffee and cabinet food which was OK. I Would recommend staying at Oakwood but make sure your room has a view of the bridge...Its totally worth the experience.

This restaurant is in the suburbs of Brisbane. It is very far from the city. It costs $100 to take a taxi. It is inconvenient to buy things. Even taking a taxi is very difficult. If you don’t like to see the scenery, it is recommended not to stay in this hotel

Fantastic! This apartment hotel is amazing. It comes with a kitchen, living room, laundry facilities, and a balcony with stunning views of Brisbane from the bed. It's also super close to the supermarket, and just a 5-minute walk to South Bank Parklands. Getting around is a breeze – both the CityCat and buses are easily accessible. Plus, it's really close to museums, art galleries, and the library. I'm so happy with this apartment hotel! The kitchenware and tableware are all well-stocked, making it perfect for even hosting a party.

The room 5067 Studio apartment was disappointing. The bathroom smelt, but maintenance fixed it very quickly. Kitchen cupboards were shabby paint flaking off. The unit look tied and bathroom the tile grouting needs to be clean. It needs an upgrade.

Was very surprised when I arrived at the standard of this hotel. It was very reasonably priced and I was expecting maybe a 3.5 star room for the price I paid so was very impressed to find I had a spacious one bedroom apartment complete with full kitchen and laundry, very luxurious bathroom and was very homely. Excellent location, straight out the door to one of the main streets of the CBD. No swimming pools or other amenities but I wasn’t phased by that. One of the few hotels left where you can buzz any visitors in and send them up the lift without having to leave your room and go down to meet your guests. They also had photos hanging on the walls inside your apartment with a brief write up about the history of the building which was very interesting. Was especially fascinated by one photo in particular showing the Main Street when people used horses for transport, all pre-car era.

The hotel is conveniently located, it only takes about five or six minutes to walk from the city center, and there are many bus stops nearby. It is an apartment with 1 bedroom, 1 living room, 1 kitchen and 1 bathroom. The living room and bedroom each have a large balcony. It is very spacious and suitable for a family. The kitchen utensils are complete, and you can cook by yourself after shopping. Room service is available every day. This price is suitable for a family to live in, and if traveling alone, it is a bit expensive.

Environment: Serviced apartments in the center of Brisbane, with a good environment. The two-bedroom room I booked is very large, 95 square meters, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a balcony that offers a river view, and a very beautiful night view. A new building is being built on the vacant land on the left, so there may not be such a good view in the future. Hygiene: The bedding in the room is very clean, and there is room service and cleaning every day, which is great. Facilities: Very complete, with a washing machine and dryer, and a drying rack, which is great. Service: I have to give a thumbs up. We didn't take some clothes away, and the waiter even emailed us to ask if we needed them to be sent to us, which was very friendly.

The hotel's location is excellent. I arrived around noon and the front desk had a room available, so I was able to check in early (usually it's 3 PM), which was a great bonus! 👍 I booked a king-sized bed room with direct river views – absolutely stunning. I stayed for one night on my way back from the Gold Coast to catch a connecting flight in Brisbane. Getting to the airport was super easy too; I used Didi for a fixed-price ride.

This room was supposed to be the superior one-bedroom room from the previous night, but I stayed in that one-bedroom room the night before because the one-bedroom room I booked that night was due for renovation and could not be lived in. On the first day of check-in, I asked the front desk to swap the rooms for the two nights so that everyone would be convenient and not suffer a loss. After all, different room types have different room rates. The so-called superior room is more expensive mainly because it is newly renovated. It looks beautiful, but I am embarrassed to post the photo of the toilet. It was only a little cleaner after I flushed it. Forget the bathtub. It is okay if I don't take a shower for one night. There is still an ashtray on the balcony. The front desk is very dedicated. The only advantage of the facilities is that the bathroom mirror is on the cabinet door. You don't have to see yourself when you open the cabinet door. I remember that Ctrip once had a test sleeper's high opinion of the mirror, which impressed me deeply when Ctrip was just founded.

I remember that I had a very good impression of this hotel when I stayed there for the first time last month, but this time it seemed to echo my premonition of human destiny. There is a light in the kitchen that can be on or off as it pleases, and the washing machine has a lot of foam without adding detergent. After I cleaned it, it can be rinsed clean without detergent. I have created a miracle to have the best of both worlds. What I can't stand is that the wifi always drops out at will, forcing me to go out in the rain to use the internet to post reviews
