🌲 Massanutten Resort: Quiet Comfort, Big Sales Trap Massanutten Resort is a quiet, well-located spot that is genuinely good for families. However, be warned: The ”free buffet breakfast for a survey” is a deceptive timeshare sales pitch. This presentation trapped us for at least three hours, completely wasting a significant portion of our vacation time that we could have used for resort activities. **Verdict:** Great location and setting, but the aggressive sales tactics are a serious drawback. Avoid the ”free breakfast.”

A historic place to stay inn! It was nice experience. The breakfast was very nice! The location is perfect, close to the city centre and all historic places.

It is not a place for a lot of people, it is more like a get away. Few rooms but comfortable, worth to go especially in New years eve.

The door was busted and supposed to get a double bed instead got a single bed with air mattress

The room is nicely furnished, and the hotel is centrally located. Breakfast was delicious.

It is a unique B & B, of course I have not lived in other local B & B. It's an old building, and it's great to take photos inside and out ... It's a small restaurant living room, just like home. Come back every night to sit in the living room and turn down the newspaper ... The breakfast is exquisite and delicious. .. free small bottle of water, hot tea and coffee, chocolate chip pretzel ... the host chats with all guests every morning, sees different guests, and instantly knows who has a few children, what is it now or before retirement What are you doing haha, very interesting, a few small tables, like sitting in their own restaurant. The rooms are a bit small, and some have no TV.

We have loved the Peaks of Otter Lodge for a quiet getaway for many years. The room was very comfortable with good amenities. We first started coming in the '1980s and '90s when the Lodge offered a winter special featuring breakfast and dinner included in the price of the stay. Back then, the food at the Lodge's restaurant was prepared and cooked on site, and the restaurant was very popular and well-known around the area for its excellent food. In recent years, however, ownership of the restaurant changed and the food has never been the same. The food tastes like it's prepackaged and merely heated up at the restaurant, and the menu prices are very high for the quality of the food being offered. In spite of the sub-par food, the wait staff was excellent, and the dining room offers a beautiful view of the lake and Sharp Top Mountain. Overall, I recommend staying at the lodge if you're wanting a peaceful respite in a beautiful setting. But you may want to make the 15 minute trip to the nearby town of Bedford for your meals.
