Fabulous place! For the price point I was concerned this would be disappointing but it was the complete opposite and I'd happily recommend it to anyone. Absolutely perfect for our purposes, close to Newbury for dinner and exploring, and a great place to go back to at night (the £15 cost of a cab was well within our budget). Breakfast was very tasty and organised with a well stocked selection and nice atmosphere. We used the pool and sauna in the morning after checkout which was clean and very welcoming. My ONLY gripe was that check-in was a little rushed and felt a little like a conveyor belt, we had been stuck in traffic and a warmer welcome would have been appreciated. Overall though, a great experience. Well done to the whole team!

We have been to this hotel before, but this time we saw a sign saying that swimming will incur £5 pp charge. I was gutted that I was not advised, as the receptionist said this new policy took place 2 weeks ago. BUT, when we went to the pool, the clerk told us that if you booked from a different provider (trip.com etc) you have a complimentary pass to the pool. If only we knew the first day. But really happy overall.

Friendly welcome from Chris on check-in, ground floor room opens from a courtyard, noted overflowing ashtray of roll-ups on table outside room door. Room looked OK, warm, clean, and the beds were comfortable. However the bathroom was just plain grubby - shower screen needs some limescale spray and a deep clean round the base, long black hairs (not mine!) in shower tray, splashed and dusty chrome towel rail. Very sensitive shower control took 5+ minutes of constant running before some lukewarm water appeared, although plenty of hot water in basin tap. One decent real ale at bar, average menu and food, fair bar prices. Breakfast, (described as ”continental” on the phone when I booked) took some finding as the pub was locked up and deserted. When we eventually found it (none of this had been explained to us on check-in) it turned out to be a small dresser of help-yourself items in a lobby at the foot of a stair, comprising of a clingfilmed basket of croissants, a bread bin, pots of jam, mini-packs of cereals, milk in a fridge below and - randomly - a toilet roll. I washed a croissant down with a cup of instant coffee made in my room, and left.

Great overnight stay. Comfortable, very clean rooms. From the moment we arrived to when we left the staff were all very friendly, approachable and helpful. Food at dinner and breakfast very good. Special mention to the always smiling Sheenu, Amma and the excellent chef Tony.

Premier Inn charge a premium rate but you shouldn't expect a premium experience. The rooms are pleasant but that's where it stops. The air conditioning in the room is very temperamental and there is no option to open the window. The bathroom needed a deep clean with brown stains in the base of the toilet pan upon arrival. The bathroom also lacked sufficient towels for two people as it appears Premier Inn have cut back on the spare towel that used to be provided. The room rate allegedly includes free WiFi but the Free WiFi is unusable (under 0.2 Mbps). Seems a money making exercise to get you to pay extra for the Ultimate WiFi package. But beware even the ”Ultimate” WiFi only offers about 4-5 Mbps (sub 3G speed). The majority of the staff are helpful and friendly but the Manager just didn't care and was totally unhelpful! Such terrible customer service from the manager who had a poor attitude and whose best suggestion for solving the issues we experienced was to speak to Customer Services in 2 days time when they reopen (after we'd checked out)! Premier Inn seem to have grown very complacent over the service they provide and the prices they are charging! You can get far better value for money elsewhere! Such a shame to see what was a great brand going down the pan!

Travelled to Newbury for the racing for the weekend and stayed at Chieveley, it is a nice hotel, easy to get to from town. Sanjay looked after us well. Room was clean and the bed comfy, with a warm shower. Can’t be beaten for the price, will be returning for next year.
