My wife and I stayed at the Harbour House on the night of 31 August 2024. The night was quite cold, so we started a fire in the fireplace. After an hour or so, the room was filled with smoke and we had to evacuate the room. The staff member that came to our room to remove the burning embers, told us that there was a known issue with the fireplace in that room (but apparently not fixed). The smoke alarm did not work. A serious safety risk. The desk agent was able to place us in another room which she stated was not in the same class as the one we booked. The next morning, I spoke to Kevin Masson, the Host Manager. He also acknowledged that there was an issue with the fireplace in Unit #2, but he did not seem at all concerned about our safety. When asked about any compensation related to the smoke filled room, or being move to a tiny room in the other building, he stated that someone at the home office would contact us. No one has reached out to-date. I'm an international traveler, so perhaps I don't understand the local rules associated with fire safety, smoke detectors or how customer service works in South Africa, but this was an awful incident that other potential guests should be aware.

The owners and Staff of Hermanus Lodge on the Green is super friendly and helpful, she upgraded us because she had a room open, the breakfast was really great. We just had some bad luck on our 1 night stay, because the wind was blowing like crazy, but would definitely suggest Hermanus Lodge on the Green for a cozy, warm atmosphere.

Had a splendid 2 night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The staff made us feel so welcome. They are exceptionally polite and well informed on the surrounding area. We were provided with a map full of helpful suggestions, and a thorough introduction to the lodge and all it's facilities upon check-in. The lodge is located right next to Hermanus New Harbour and a few steps from the cliff path, which is well worth the walk. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. It opens onto a beautiful, well maintained garden area but a few steps from the pool. Breakfast was fantastic (reccommend the Full English!), and a lovely selection of breads, cereals, fruits, cold meats, yogurts etc at the buffet. Truly, no complaints. Would absolutely stay again.

Best hotel experience I've ever encountered in my entire 37 years of age. Starting from the warm welcome by the hotel manager, beautiful views and very neat space from the outside to inside. Clean linen, beautiful rooms, up to standard boutique furniture. Everything was top notch, I'd go there either with colleagues, friends or family over and over again. What an experience!!! What a find! From arrival to departure, we loved every minute. We were staying in the hineymoon suite. Large and comfortable, with AMAZING views. So comfortable. Breakfast great. Fresh fruit, delicious yoghurts and bakes. Wonderful cooked breakfast. Dining room overlooking the pool and oceon. Hosts VERY wrlcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. Simpky a wonderful experience.

We had a lovely morning at the Marine, having tea and scones on the little patio, overlooking the sea. What a treat it always is! I have stayed at the Marine many times but this time just visited for tea. I want to say a special thank you to Malibongwe, our waiter- what a gentle person with a friendly open manner. We hope to see him again next time. (thanks also for our 'coffees 'to go'! Thanks Malibongwe!
