PPengguna TetamuI found this place by looking for a neighborhood with a bit of nightlife and local energy, and it ended up being a great fit — especially for the price.
I was expecting a more traditional hostel setup, but it’s actually a hybrid between a capsule hotel and a hostel. My room had six capsule-style beds, each with a clean, modern design and a surprisingly cozy feel. The lighting inside the pods was especially well done — soft, warm, and diffused through wood finishes instead of harsh LED lighting. As someone who works visually, I really appreciated that detail.
From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful. There was a bit of a language barrier, but between their effort and translation apps, communication was easy. They got me checked in smoothly, offered small touches like cookies at the front desk, and provided essentials like slippers, a toothbrush, and even a disposable bath towel — which I hadn’t seen before.
The building itself is quite new, so there’s that “new construction” smell in some areas, and like many places in Shanghai, there’s a bit of cigarette smell in common areas and bathrooms. That said, my room itself was clean and didn’t have any smoke smell. The mattress was very comfortable — I actually scored a 99 sleep score during my stay.
I got lucky with a quiet roommate, but overall the setup felt private, secure, and well-designed for rest.
The bathrooms were mostly clean and new, though there were some early issues with drainage in the showers. Nothing major, but worth noting.
One of the highlights for me was the common area — a bright, warm space with large windows where you can eat, work, or just relax. It’s open 24/7 and stocked with free tea, coffee, and even a really cool water dispenser where you can choose exact temperature and volume. Small detail, but very useful.
The staff continued to impress throughout my stay — helping me with lockers, local apps like Alipay and WeChat, and even being flexible when I accidentally missed booking an extra night. They were also kind enough to hold my luggage until midnight on my last day.
As for the location — this really depends on your travel style. I didn’t see many other foreigners staying there, and it didn’t have a typical “hostel social” vibe. But for me, that was a plus. It felt very local, with tons of restaurants, cafes, bike access, and easy transit nearby. I was able to explore the city more like a resident than a tourist, which I always prefer.
For around $15 a night, this place offers incredible value. If you’re looking for something polished, social, or upscale, this might not be your spot. But if you want a clean, modern, local experience at a great price — it’s hard to beat.

HhismymasterpieceI like the place♥️, it's right in front of the road. And the bus stop is 3 minutes walk away.🚌 Then the metro 🚇 is very accessible, super close. That's what I liked about the hotel. It's clean. I stayed there in any bed. The girls' toilets and shower area are clean. The lady who cleans every day is helpful and hardworking. The thing is, it's hard in a hotel like yours and there are big kids who weigh more than 20 kilos. It's hard to go up. They don't have an elevator, so I was burdened with my luggage.

Ggonegirl67this is quite a cute little hostel! everyone was so friendly and my friend and i talked to so many people- there are lots of travellers and locals staying here! it was a bit difficult to find since you need to go through some gates but i think the overall location is really good. i didn’t like the blinds on the bunk beds though- i think they make too much noise. other than that, it was good.

CCindy BriggsI absolutely love this place! I stayed here last year too! They have really improved with keeping up on the cleanliness of the bathroom which last year it was lacking a bit but I understand when you have many people sharing it like a locker room. Convenient location and close to a lot of fun things and with in walking distance of many things.

PPengguna TetamuMy first experience stayed at hostel and it was bad. Room was quite small and got the worst bed. I need to climb quite hard bcs the other hand rail is beside the wall. Matress was so hard and we need to cover the bedsheet by own. No towel and mineral water provided. I didn’t like the bathroom bcs the door has a big gap, that everyone from outside can see (i know they didn’t want to see it anymore). Hair dryer and laundry can’t be used from 11PM - 9AM.
They can accept taobao package, they have storage and you can find ur package by urself.
Location is very good, near nanjing road, there’s nearby convenience as well. Close to East Nanjing station and People’s Squar

BBlackeyedsamuraiBooked this hotel last minute, cause my favorite hotel is closing down business this month and i wanted something nearer cause I’m well versed with the surrounding areas, 1: the first red flag is the reception, mail and deliveries are all piled up and falling off shelves, it’s so dirty and humid, it looks like a hoarder’s poach, they’re no waiting chairs, so you’ll stand while they process the guests that came before you until it’s your turn !! The receptionists are very nice and helpful .
2; no room housekeeping ( you’ll have to ask for someone to come take the rubbish and give you towels or change your bedding.
3: THE FILTH!!! The filth is on level 1000/100 the grime made it hard for me to shower with my eyes open, I’m not sure if the place has a manager and if they care about the the wellbeing of the clients , because from what i saw, the cleaners don’t even bother, the floor had food stains from i think when they just opened, the sink🤮 the bathroom ( that one corner gave me the hibbigibeis) the toilet seat was broken
, everything in the bathroom was broken and dirty , then my charger fell in the space which is between the bathroom glass and the bed, got down to retrieve it and i decided it was best to just a get a new charger instead.
The place if cleaned and cared for would be an amazing hotel apartment, it has great amenities , a washing machine a fridge and a drying rack if you upgrade to a bigger room, a kitchenette that would be great if you are interested in cooking and staying longer and it’ has an Aldi downstairs, a gym and lots of other great places surrounding it . I really hope the owners would read this and take it into consideration and carry out serious supervision or else their property will lose value, The hygiene of the hotel does not only ensure the health and wellness of the visitors who sleep in those walls but also keeps the property value up. Dirt And filth only brings it down and puts the health of others at risk . I really hope they change standards.
