Very nice hostel. I highly recommend this to everyone who needs a place to sleep when traveling in this part. We stayed in a 5 person room, my partner and kid, plus two friends (adults) and we all enjoyed our stay. The only thing we did not enjoy was the squeaky metal beds, I thought my upstair partner kept going in and out of the bed..she just turned around! So bring your ear plugs, but everything was clean, we had our own bathroom, but the shared ones was also nice. Big kitchen and eating area (we did not use it though, arrived late and left early). But I would absolutely go back here in the future.

This was my third time staying at Midgard Base Camp. The place has a lot of heart, and the Midgard family has put a lot of effort into making it feel homey. It's nice to do a couple of nights to allow for participation on one of their tours. Sleep quality was impacted by other guests. There was a French couple who had all of their luggage in the room hanging everywhere, but the worst part was Stinky Shoes radiating their malodorous and tear-inducing nature. (There is a rack labeled ”stinky shoe rack” as one comes up the stairs; it also has a hot-air dryer) Fortunately, there is a window that I could waft breathable air inside.

The common kitchen is perfect and the kitchen utensils well organized. A little set back is the bath room. There is only two for seven rooms on the 1/floor which is a bit inconvenient

Excellent place to stay. The hostel is beatiful and cozy. Very clean. The rooms and beds are spaceous. They provide free linens and towells, there is also free food and toilletries from other guests. It’s very quiet and friendly. 100% recommendable. I stayed for 3 nights and would have stayed longer. You definitely need a car to move around but It’s pretty close to most of the sites. It’s the perfect place to stay if you prefer something a bit away from the city and closet to nature

We didn’t stay at the hostel, but we were staying nearby and went for dinner one night, and went back the next night after dinner for a drink. Thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The staff were superb, really lovely and welcoming and happy to chat. The food was really tasty and good value, generous portions. The style of food was quite wholesome local food, and although the menu was small, they were careful to have options to suit a range of tastes (vegan, fish, meat). The place was comfortable and the dining room had great views over the lake. Highly recommended!
