We had been looking forward to visiting newly reopened Hilton Durban, for some time and finally did so two weeks ago. Although only 100 of the 324 rooms are currently in use, as part of a phased reopening of the entire hotel, the warm welcoming atmosphere and personalised service exceeded our expectations! The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Durban, bordering on the Durban International Convention Centre, incredibly well positioned opposite the Durban Exhibition Centre and not too far from the Durban Beach Front. The rooms are beautifully designed with modern amenities, including comfortable beds, an HDTV, and complimentary WiFi1. Their executive suites are top notch and we also received complimentary access to the Business Lounge, with complimentary drinks and snacks, and top class service from Siphiwe. The staff at the Hilton Durban were exceptionally receptive and attentive. Mluleki was kind and happy to go over and beyond to guarantee us a memorable stay. But then again, the Hilton is well regarded for its outstanding service. The hotel's amenities, such as the outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre proved to be a great attraction for young and old, especially the pool and outdoor chilling area which is a popular spot for unwinding after a busy day of exploring the city.

BEST STAFF, BEST LOCATION! Mr PIllay, Rai, Elvis, Pat, Security Guards, Restaurant Team, makes this MY Hotel of Choice! A Perfect location coupled with Excellent Service is a rare occurrence in this day and age. Excellence is not about skills, it's about attitude!

We had an Amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express, Umhlanga. This has to be one of the best service I've experienced (local and international included). Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this Establishment. Check in was awesome. Brendan and team were extremely Welcoming, Friendly and Efficient. We were settled into the room in no time as well as informed of all the amenities. We traveled as a group and the team helped us to get rooms close to each other which was so convenient. Breakfast was scrumptious and the service exceeded our expectations. Trisha and the team take their work and service to customers so seriously - like it's their own company. My son wanted Chocolate muffins and they baked it specially for him - how amazing is that! We were leaving early to the airport and Trisha offered to have breakfast ready from 5am - was so impressed and grateful. This has to be one of the best hotels across the world. Kudos to the team and leadership. Highly recommend anyone to not hesitate to book here. Thanks so much guys

My second stay at this hotel, great location close to restaurants and a walk away from the beach. Also close to South Coast ****** and Lalucia Mall (Umhlanga. I enjoy their breakfast, the hotel was nice and clean and my last stay with my family was enjoyable. We enjoyed the skypool on the rooftop.

Hilton Garden Inn in Umlanga is a great place to stay with its convenient location and comfortable rooms that are small. The property court yard is in close approximately to Legacy Yard Food Hall. It is a hotel that offers a local experience with a touch of international standards. Despite the positives, there is room for improvement. The coffee machine in the breakfast area needs attention as. The quality of coffee is not up to the mark and this can be a letdown for coffee lovers. Will definitely be back to try the high tea out!

My stay here was absolutely lovely! The staff are very attentive and extremely helpful and friendly! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Pearls. I would like to give a shout at to the Executive Chef Gerald, who went above and beyond to prepare delicious vegetarian dishes with his special touch. He was very hospitable and kind! I will definitely be staying here the next time I visit Durban. Amazing service with a smile!

What an elegant hotel. Beautiful spacious rooms, the staff is attentive and friendly. There’s a lot of restaurants around the hotel to choose from, the ocean is within a walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in Durban!

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

I'm sorry but this place may look nice on pictures and superficially nice but everything is cheap and service is quite poor. The plastic wood everywhere is tacky, windows are so thin you hear all the traffic on the roadside while on the yard side there is LOUD partying til very late. The staff assured me it would stop at 23, but this was not true, it continued til 2 am. The staff in reception seems truly clueless at most things, this is probably because they have no training and hardly any salary. The poor manager on duty seems to constantly have to rush and make right the various mistakes made, she seems to do nothing but apologise all day to costumers. The owners of the hotel clearly prioritise their own pockets over providing service. A few examples of cheapness: 1.No folder with information in the room - I am referred to the website. The tebsite says iron and ironing board in your room. I looked and looked, couldn't find it. I called reception and they said I can fetch it from the lobby (another hotel would have brought it to my room...). I went down to lobby, carried the ironing board up in the elevator etc. to my room and then found the iron to be old and dirty, it dirtied my blouse and the steam function didn't work properly there was just a lot of water coming out, leaving water stains on my other top.... Just replace the iron when it is old? If a guest calls, deliver the iron and board to the room? Change the information on the web... not so difficult things if you want to make a good impression.. 2.My collegue had a paid and booked transport to the airport that had been forgotten by the staff despite that he reminded them a few hours before and they ensured him it was settled. Once it was due - no transport. He nearly missed his flight. The poor manager lady had to book an uber for him and give him cash... 3. I gave them laundry one morning, thinking it would be finished by the evening or the next day, like all other hotels. By next evening it was not finished (it was 3 small items, no dry cleaning). They seemed to be looking for it as if they had lost it. When I was checking out 2 days after handing in the laundry, the woman in reception admitted one of my tops had been lost... When I complained about this and point 4 below, they did offer compensation, but I had to send a recepit of a new top and fill in forms etc. hassle. 4. After a long week of work staying at this hotel I was looking forward to sleeping 8 hours until leaving on Saturday. The Friday partying however started already at 4 pm with a DJ. I had the room facing the courtyard and asked the manager how long the partying would continue. Oh we have a curfew at eleven in Durban, she said, it will definitely be quiet after that! I’m not from South Africa so I believed her and felt OK I can sleep from 11 to 8 am, that’s OK. My room turned out to be just above the party and it felt like it was IN my room. This was my first time staying at the Royal Palms and enjoyed my stay and it was a very relaxing stay. Very close to any shopping venue you want. The rooms are special. I will invite my friends to visit this hotel in the future.

This review relates mainly to one specific issue, but it was the reason that I selected this hotel over the other choice I had. I run but do not like running on the road in cities I do not know. I therefore selected Coastlands as it has a fitness centre. My other option didn't. There are two treadmills in the fitness centre, both essentially unusable. The one is stuck in about a 3 degree incline and cannot be flattened. The other had a dilapidated running belt that was torn and which kept ”sticking” or ”stalling” every third or fourth step of my left foot. I've never seen such dilapidated equipment at any other hotel I've stayed at. There were also button covers missing and buttons that did not work. While the room was clean and nice, there was no lighting above the desk which made working on a laptop difficult. The water spout control on the bidet was broken. The plug on the sink leaked water at a rapid rate.

This is a comfortable business hotel. Rooms are decently sized and bathrooms are okay too, the washbasin is a small one though. Couple of bummers : Gave one glass bottle of water, replenishments were in the form of plastic bottles. If you ask for the same glass bottle (which I do because of environmental reasons), they don't give it. Breakfast was very decent and overall service was good. A big issue is that they dont have room service for food. They have only beverages that can be ordered to your rooms! The reason is 'we have many restaurants around us'. I found this to be funny. Hotel is well located and opt for higher floors for good views.

We stayed here for one night only as part of our South African trip so didn’t get to experience all that the hotel has to offer. It is very stylish and our room was spotless, with a small balcony overlooking the lighthouse and the whalebone pier. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed our evening meal too. Service was good. Sadly we didn’t get to eat our breakfast outside overlooking the sea due to the pesky monkeys. Our only issue was our bathroom. We stayed in Room 406. The bath was a strange shape and was very narrow to sit in and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Thankfully we were able to mop this up with the lovely thick bath towels. Also, this bathroom honestly had the worst grouting and siliconing we have ever seen!

Everything about this road lodge is excellent from the location ,value for money, cleanliness, and the most compassionate staff I've ever come across in all my international and national travels. I cannot recommend this road lodge highly enough.

the hotel s beautiful and cleane hygiene is excellent if you could change the furniture and the red carpet tr to install new one it would be so so beautiful and attractive also kindly change the cushions or sofas at the reception and first floor

The property and service was good but there is always a room for improvement. The swimming pool needs attention, and the windows need to be opened only by the guest to avoid snakes from entering the rooms. I had to check the entire room first to satisfy myself if there were no snakes or dangerous insects before being comfortable.

Redlands is clean, rooms are spacious, service is great, breakfast is also delicious. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in.
