Where else to stay when the Christmas Market in Aachen is on? The location is excellent, and the price is reasonable. Unfortunately, there is only access to the rooms by stairs, so if you have trouble with luggage and stairs this hotel is not for you. The staff will however help with the luggage if needed. Another minus is that the breakfast restaurant is temporarily closed, for several reasons. Fortunately, there are several really good options withn 2 minutes walking distance. The room (33) itself was spacious, and I believe I had one of the smaller rooms. A metal framed double bed, a sturdy desk and a old fashioned wardrobe. Spartan, but more than enough for me. The bathroom was done in a modern style with white tiles. Everything was clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Note that the front desk is only manned during the day.

If you're exploring central Aachen, this hotel is right where you want to be. The price is reasonable, the rooms are comfortable and good-sized (if perhaps a bit spartan) and clean. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. But! My room on the fourth floor involved climbing 70+ stairs every time I came and went (and hauling my bag up and down when I checked in and out). While it was probably quieter being higher above the street, nocturnal party animals in the town square shouting sing-songy beer-fueled anthems into the wee hours made sleep challenging sometimes. Also, wifi was iffy and there were no safes in rooms.

De locatie is zeer centraal gelegen aan het marktplein in Aken. Alle winkels en bezienswaardigheden zijn op loopafstand en er is een ruim aanbod aan horeaca op het plein. Dit hotel heeft geen lift en een beperkt aantal kamers. Daarom is de receptie ook niet 24 uur bezet. Dat is echter geen probleem want op de balangrijkste tijden is er wel bezetting voor in- en uitchecken en buiten die tijden is er een kluis met codes voor de sleutel uitgifte. De centrale toegangsdeur werkt met een elektrische deuropener dmv een RFID chip in de kamersleutel. Het kan zijn dat je met je bagage vier trappen opmoet naar je kamer, maar dat zag ik als een goede lichaamsbeweging. De kamer zelf is zeer schoon en ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Toilet, douche, wastafel en dergelijke zijn keurig op orde ende bedden zijn prima. Op de kamer een fles mineraalwater en een televisie. Elke kamer heeft een Wifi accesspoint, de code staat in de handleiding op de kamer. Er is sfeervolle verlichting en ook een regelbare plafonnière. Aan de straatzijde is het tot laat lawaaiig, maar je wilt een hotel midden in het centrum. Er is geen ontbijtvoorziening maar in de directe nabijheid veel aanbod van horeca met ontbijt voor een schappelijke prijs. Ik probeerde het Aachener Cafe direct er vlakbij en dat was uitstekend. Parkeren un je bij Contipark op 300 meter afstand, dus ook dat uitstekend geregeld.
