Hotel Mesra keluarga di Alcântara

My wife and I stayed at the Pestana Palace Lisboa in October because I attended a conference on the property. Pros that I experienced: - The property is beautiful. - It had a full-service hotel with a highly professional and helpful staff. - Lush gardens on the property with tons of different plants - Indoor pool and fitness center - Nice room (clean, sizable, well stocked with coffee) - Great breakfast - Outdoor aviary in the garden - Walled, secure property (but not in a bad area) Things that looked awesome, but I didn’t get the chance to use due to the time of year: - Outdoor pool - Garden house (looked like a small café or bar in the middle of the garden area) - In-house bar and restaurant The only disadvantage, to my mind, was the location. There is a tram stop at the back of the property (you’d walk out the front gate and follow the wall to the back to get the tram or bus) …. Still, the property is on the outskirts of downtown. There aren’t many restaurants or cafes nearby. The trams/busses don’t run as often as downtown, and it takes 10-15 minutes to get to the city center and even longer to the castle on the east side of town. In contrast, we stayed at an Airbnb in the northwest center of Lisbon a few days before the conference. Staying in town allowed us to wander through town easily and experience more of the Lisbon feel. If I were going again for pleasure, I’d probably opt for something in the north end of the downtown area again. If you don't mind the distance from most of what's happening in town then this is a wonderful choice.
