Mediterraneo Bay Hotel & Resort

I stayed here as a family of 3 adults 1 child during May half term. Overall the pools were fun for my child but I was disappointed for the price we paid. I will elaborate if you wish to read a long review... Check in - we arrived at 9.30 pm and Alba on reception was very friendly and helpful and sent us for dinner before checking us in as they finish serving at 10pm. Luis (who was great all week) helped us find the correct restaurant as there are 3 near the lobby. His English is limited but always very friendly and helpful. Things then went downhill as the lady at the restaurant insisted on a room number or wristband but we hasn't checked in yet, we persuaded her eventually but she struggled to understand why I hadn't checked in yet. Room- was a good size, clean and had the sea view we paid for. The Balcony chairs were a bit flimsy and the balcony wall was a bit dirty. Again things went downhill in term of the door lock. The handle had been loose and difficult to get the door to open from arrival but twice during the holiday we were locked out of the room due to the door lock being faulty - this was for hours at a time. Initially the lady on reception was very curt and suggested it was my fault for storing the key near my phone and didn't apologise - gave us 2 new keys which didn't work either (like I said this was an issue with the door not the key). Someone was sent to fix it which took over an hour. The next day we got locked out after breakfast and I hadn't taken my bag so had to money or sunscreen. By 11.30 it was still broken so I politely but firmly asked for them to hurry up as the whole family was stuck in the bar inside as we didn't want to get sunburnt. About 15 mins later a maintenance man was sent to the room luckily we found him as he was able to check our keys worked before leaving, he was very friendly and helpful. Pools- This is where to hotel should excel but again it was let down by some issues. The lagoon pool near the new swim up rooms was shut on and off throughout the holiday, not sure why we were thrown out by a lifeguard one day and on another day it was full of palm tree offcuts as they were chopping them back by the pool (not sure why this wasn't done before the opened for the season or before the pool was filled up after shutting it?) There was some confusion by Jet2 who insisted this pool was fully open- but it wasn't. The main adult pool is OK but can get busy as the other pool was shut. The children's pool with the fire engine seemed great but the water didn't turn on till 11am (my child really wanted to go in right after breakfast at 9.30/10am). It was poorly maintained on close inspection, quite rusty in places and some broken bits (again I would expect this to be fixed out of season). The slide pool was good for older children but most of the nearby sunbeds the elastic or height adjustment is broken so not very comfy. Hotel is beautiful. Very Spanish not many English but that’s not a bad thing as there’s no rush for getting sun beds. Food was delicious and all very fresh. The hotel and pool areas were all spotless. Such a lovely hotel we can’t wait to return.

Stayed the last week in September and had a lovely week away. Hotel was quiet in the week but busy at weekends. Food is good although not so much choice as the week went on but always found something to eat . Entertainment every night but was in Spanish so not really appealing to us. For a nice getaway before the winter I would recommend it . Bring your own travel kettle as fridge in room but no tea making facilities.

So… this is an honest review as a well travelled couple that never complain, and enjoy travelling all over Europe and the Caribbean 😄 The resort is lovely, very clean, no bugs whatsoever, no rush for loungers at all, food pretty good, albeit a bit cold at times, but there is a microwave. Could not fault the weather, it’s quite windy, but for September it’s lovely.. Now for the not so good 🤨and the reasons we would not return, in a nice way. Monday to Friday are lovely, but then the weekenders come! And omg, it’s so crowded and noisy, you legit fight for a table in the restaurant, get there at opening time, or you starve… The noise!!! Jesus, it’s so noisy, kids screaming, parents yelling🤦🏻‍♀️Also, all my years of travelling, I’ve never felt so alienated. Literally not one person spoke to me or my husband, not a hola, gracias, not anything. The staff literally did not liaise whatsoever. I would stand at the pool bar for a drink, get asked to scan my wristband, what I wanted to drink, and that was it… tbh it was cheaper for us, as we normally tip a good couple of hundred euros/dollars 😂😂 The pools are lovely, look a lot smaller than they do online tho. The room was nice, bit like a travel lodge, but was really clean, could of done with some drawers , but the view was incredible, we slept with the patio door open listening to the ocean, it was beautiful . Location. Now it is a quiet area, not much around, but I quite like this, hubby likes a couple of sports bars for the footy, but there was none, we still enjoyed a walk to the tapas bars for food and wine tho. If you go out the back of the hotel, turn right, walk along the promenade, there’s shops, bars etc, we had food at a place called nellys, it was lovely and reasonable price. Noticed a kebab place up there too. Turn left out the hotel and there’s a lovely walk and a few tapas bars etc, we had wine at aloha bar, only €1.25 a glass, was lovely too. Other than that there’s not much in that direction. As much as we had a lovely time (I preferred it more than my husband) we would not return, more so to do with the hotel more than the area. It’s the weekends that put me off. It’s about 45 mins to the airport, which was pretty quick to get through, although it is tiny. They have a bar and a duty free shop. And I think they had a roof top area to smoke. Also there is a shop onsite, pretty cheap compared to other places we have been. 😄

It was such a brilliant family holiday, we had such a great time. The children were constantly entertained by the pool and we crossed the little road in the mornings to go to the beach for a change of scenery. The hotel is extremely popular with Spanish families so the timings of meals and evening entertainment were a bit later than we were used to. The children went to the children’s disco each night, but the entertainment afterwards started at 11pm which was just too late for them, which was a shame as they would have loved the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast performances. I think the children’s disco might need to be somewhere slightly safer than by the pool as one of our children fell in, luckily we were there to get her out. The food was really nice, lots and lots of variety at the buffet. We preferred the buffet food to the restaurant. The family rooms were fairly small, but we were only there for sleeping so didn’t mind.

Start with the ‘not so good’ The entertainment starts late, and it goes on and on until about midnight, which baffles us and many other guests. It was loud in the rooms and we did struggle to sleep as it was set up right outside our rooms. When I asked about moving the lady on reception said that there is animation all round the hotel til midnight and it was tough basically. We were happy the nights it was too windy to be outside :) The other not so good thing for us was that the food at evening wasn’t available until 7.30pm which as a family with young ones we found just a tad awkward but we worked round it. The benefit of being half board meant we could have lunch and eat out earlier Everything else was great, the pools and the food were good. Hotel was clean and the hotel has a really lovely finish. Soukaina in the restaurant was fabulous and thoroughly made our stay the best with how welcoming and friendly she was and she went above and beyond every single meal time with my little one.

Lovely hotel, very clean and spacious as soon as you get into reception. Very friendly staff. Food was plenty, something for everyone, can't fault it. Bedroom was spotless and quite spacious for 3. Lovely view of the sea, especially in the morning. Beach very close, don't expect sand but we really enjoyed it. Sea was warm! There are luxury sun loungers around the pool but you have to pay for those at reception. Entertainment was very good, day and evening. Whilst we was there mainly in Spanish but it really didn't matter, it was still very good and a great environment to chill out in.

We went all inclusive. The site suggests a number of restaurants but only 3 of the 7 restaurants on site were included which we felt was a little misleading. We had food in the main buffet and the overflow There was a good selection but because the plates were freezing cold the food was nearly cold by the time you got it to the table. There was not much of a selection of wine to go with the meal. The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable however we had no bottles of water’ kettle cups or other facilities in the room There was no shampoo or conditioner either all of which I would expect from a 4 star hotel. We had a good time but the failures listed above took the shine off our stay. They are so easily to rectify. I hope the hotel takes what I have said on board

Good food my favorite were spaghetti carbonara. Rooms were okay for sleeping since were mostly at the pools or at the sea. Really nice (and attractive) restaurant staff. Overall we enjoyed our stay, if I could right now I would go back, too bad I can’t.
